How to get smarter in BitLife
To get smarter in BitLife, read books from age 6 under Activities > Mind & Body, and keep reading every year. From age 12, add the library and the Memory Test. Study harder in school, work harder at your job, and stay away from drugs, which can lower smarts. No paid pack is needed.

- From age 6, open Activities > Mind & Body > Books and read a book. Children can only pick children's books, and short picture books are quick to finish.
- Read several books each year. Unlike the library, every book you finish can raise your smarts again in the same year.
- Choose Study harder at school every year. Later, choose Work harder at your job for a small yearly gain.
- From age 12, visit the library and take the Memory Test under Mind & Body. A high Memory Test score raises smarts, and a poor one lowers it.
- From age 18, watch a documentary when you go to the movies. It can raise your smarts.
- If your smarts get very low, tap the Boost button next to the bar for 16 smarts. You watch an ad for it unless you are a Bitizen.

- Long books give big gains. The wiki lists The Merriam-Webster Dictionary (age 13) and Atlas Shrugged (age 17) at +100 smarts, and reading the whole dictionary unlocks an achievement.

- Roll a character who starts with good smarts. It is much easier to go from 70 to 100 than from 0.
