How to build a house in The Sims 4

1. Move into an empty lot. Press B to open Build Mode (F3 also works).
2. Optional: add a foundation first. Select the foundation tool and set its height.
3. Pick the room tool and drag out a square or rectangle. Keep rooms small; big empty rooms look bare.
4. Click a room and drag it to move it, or drag its sides to resize it. To join two rooms, click the wall between them and choose merge.
5. Add doors and windows from the build catalog. Every room needs a door.
6. Paint walls and floors. Hold Shift to fill a whole room at once.
7. For a second floor, place stairs on the ground floor, then press Page Up (Fn + Up Arrow on Mac) and build the upper rooms.
8. Add the roof last. Use several roof pieces instead of one flat piece.
9. Furnish each room in Buy Mode. Use , and . to rotate objects. To place objects more freely, type bb.moveobjects on in the cheat console.

PlayStation y Xbox

1. Open Build Mode on an empty lot.
2. Use the room tool to place rooms, then add doors and windows.
3. Add stairs for upper floors, then the roof.
4. Furnish in Buy Mode. For button names, check the in-game Controls list.

Build in this order: foundation, walls and rooms, roof, doors and windows, then decoration and furniture. Plan the roof shape early so it fits the rooms.

You can place a finished house from the Gallery. Open Manage Worlds, open the Gallery, pick a lot and choose Place Lot or Place Lot and Edit. The Gallery lot must be the same size or smaller than your lot. Lots with custom content or packs you do not own will be missing items.
