How to delete a Sim in The Sims 4

Open Manage Worlds, then Manage Households. Select the Sim's household and click the pencil icon to edit it in Create a Sim. Hover over the Sim's portrait, click the X and confirm. To remove a whole household, select it in Manage Households and choose Delete Household. Deleting is permanent and you cannot undo it.

Save your game, or back up your save file first.
Open Manage Worlds, then Manage Households.
Select the household of the Sim you want to delete.
Click the pencil icon to edit the household in Create a Sim.
Hover over the Sim's portrait and click the X. Confirm.
Click the checkmark to save the household without that Sim.

Delete a whole household

In Manage Households, select the household and choose Delete Household. All Sims in it leave the save. The game cannot undo this.

Remove a Sim without deleting them

In Manage Households, use Transfer Sims Between Households and move the Sim to a new household. They stay in the world. You can also type testingcheats true, then sims.remove_from_family. This moves the active Sim out of your household if it has more than one Sim.

Common problems

The X does not delete the Sim

Move the Sim into their own new household in Manage Households. Then delete that household.

Sims vanished after editing a big household

Players report that a household with more than 8 Sims loses Sims when opened in Create a Sim, until only 8 remain. Do not open such a household in Create a Sim.

You deleted the wrong Sim

You cannot undo it in the game. Load an older save or your save file backup.
