How to start a fire in The Sims 4

The easiest way is to cook on a cheap stove with a Sim who has low Cooking skill. You can also put rugs or other objects next to a fireplace and light it. To put a fire out, click it and choose Extinguish Fire. To stop all fires, type testingcheats true, then fire.toggle_enabled false.

Buy a cheap stove in Buy Mode.
Pick a Sim with low Cooking skill and have them cook a meal on the stove. Repeat until the stove catches fire.
Or place a fireplace, then put rugs, chairs or other objects right next to it in Build Mode.
Go to Live Mode and light the fireplace. Nearby objects can catch fire.
Fire spreads to nearby objects. Keep your Sims away from the flames so they don't die.

How to put out a fire

Click the flames and choose Extinguish Fire. Adult Sims use a fire extinguisher. It does not always work on big fires.

A ceiling sprinkler puts out a fire as soon as it starts. A smoke alarm does not stop fires, but guides say it calls the firefighters.

A Sim on fire can run into a shower to put the flames out. Bathtubs do not work.

How to stop fires with a cheat

Open the cheat console. Ctrl + Shift + C on PC, Cmd + Shift + C on Mac, L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 on PlayStation, LB + LT + RB + RT on Xbox.

Tipo testingcheats true and press Enter. Then type fire.toggle_enabled false. Nothing can catch fire now. Type fire.toggle_enabled true to turn fires back on.

On console, cheats that need testingcheats turn off trophies and achievements for that save.
