About the Dead-End Job series
Dead-End Job is a South Korean mystery-horror television show. Han Jun-hee created the series, and Kim Da-min directed it. The story follows a man named Byeon Hyeok-jun who has heavy debts and needs cash fast. Hyeok-jun accepts very high-paying temporary jobs from a strange staffing agency. He soon learns that he must survive deadly supernatural monsters during his work shifts.
The show is trending across the globe right now. Netflix began the main promotion on October 7, 2026. Netflix released the series on October 30, 2026. Fans are watching the eight episodes very quickly this week. Viewers praise how the show mixes supernatural horror with a sharp comedy about the gig economy.
The series uses Seoul in South Korea as its filming location. The modern streets and the difficult job market make the strange horror story feel real. The setting highlights the sharp difference between normal city life and the secret monsters.
Why Seoul
The series is set and filmed in contemporary Seoul, using the city's modern infrastructure and intense job market to ground its surreal gig-economy horror. The real-world backdrop heightens the contrast between ordinary urban life and the supernatural elements hidden within it.
Who you could be
Min-su, a desperate gig worker
You make Min-su by typing his name, age, and job in one text box. He starts with very low cash in the city of Seoul. You talk to AI agency recruiters to earn money from strange night shifts.
Ji-eun, a convenience store night clerk
Ji-eun works alone at the GS25 Convenience Store. She receives group texts from her friends who sleep at night. You must type replies to them while you watch the dark streets on the 3D map.
Tae-young, a midnight cinema usher
Tae-young cleans the large CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall late at night. You can see happenings on the map, such as late birthday drinks. Tae-young skips the birthday drinks to finish his strange work.
Seo-yeon, an accident investigator
Seo-yeon works near the Seoul Employment and Welfare Plus Center. LifeSim has no building interiors, so you wait outside the office. She talks to other characters to find out why the gig workers vanish.
Do-yun, a theme park mascot
Do-yun wears a heavy suit at Lotte World every day. You use the calendar and the daily to-do list to track his long shifts. He tries to keep his health high after strange events happen at the park.
Ha-yoon, a suspicious local resident
Ha-yoon lives in an apartment near the strange Yongma Land amusement park. She notices the new gig workers who walk on her street at night. You type questions to the workers to learn about their dangerous jobs.
A day in the life of a shady agency recruiter
Sang-wook wakes up in his small apartment near the Seoul Employment and Welfare Plus Center. He works as a recruiter for the secret Spider Staffing Agency. He opens his phone and looks at his unread inbox. He sends texts to AI characters who need extra money. He offers them very high pay for a simple job at Lotte World. Sang-wook adds his recruitment quota to his daily to-do list.
In the afternoon, Sang-wook walks to the GS25 Convenience Store. The 3D map shows heavy rain in the city today. He buys a hot coffee and talks to the young clerk. Sang-wook types a question about her need for extra cash. The clerk remembers that he asked the same question last week. She declines the offer because she fears the strange stories about the agency.
Sang-wook travels to Yongma Land as the sun goes down. The abandoned amusement park looks very dark at this hour. He waits for a new gig worker to arrive at the old carousel. The difficult day ends with a daily recap screen. The recap shows that Sang-wook gained money but lost relationship points with the local workers.
