The Sims 4 includes cheat commands that alter your household funds, skills, careers, relationships, and build mode rules. You type these commands into a text box during gameplay to change how the game behaves. Some commands work right away, such as motherlode for 50,000 Simoleons or rosebud and kaching for 1,000 Simoleons.

Other cheats require you to turn on the game's cheat mode before they work. The tables on this page list the commands by category, along with the exact text you need to type. You can use base game commands or cheats from packs like Seasons, Island Living, Eco Lifestyle, and Get Famous.

How to open the cheat console

You open the cheat console in Live mode with a shortcut on your keyboard or controller. Press Ctrl + Shift + C on PC, or press Cmd + Shift + C on Mac. On console, press all four shoulder buttons at the same time to bring up the text box.

Type your command into the box and press Enter. Some commands work outside Live mode, such as freerealestate on when you view the neighborhood map. You also must type cas.fulleditmode before you open Create a Sim to unlock name, age, trait, and aspiration edits.

Many cheats in the tables require you to activate cheat mode first. Type testingcheats true into the console to turn cheat mode on. When you finish, type testingcheats false to turn cheat mode off again.

What turning on testingcheats changes

Turning on testingcheats unlocks the commands marked as needing it in our tables. With it active, the money command sets your household funds to any exact amount up to 9,999,999 Simoleons. You can also set a skill to level 10 or add 100 points to a friendship or romance track.

Career and need commands also depend on this setting. You can promote your active Sim, set their work performance to 100, or retire them for a pension. You can also fill the needs of every Sim in the save or stop household needs from going down.

Enabling testingcheats also lets you use shift-click menus on Sims and objects. For example, you can shift-click a Sim to move them into your household with sims.add_to_family. If you have Seasons or Snowy Escape, you can use the shift-click menu with weather.lightning_strike_object to strike a target.

Type cas.fulleditmode into the cheat console before you open Create a Sim. This unlocks the Sim's name, age, traits, and aspiration for editing. To open Create a Sim directly from Live mode to change outfits and looks, type sims.modify_in_cas.

How do you turn off death or fires in The Sims 4?
