How to play a random legacy with this generator

Roll generation 1 and create the founder in Create a Sim with the three traits, the aspiration, and the career. Move them onto an empty lot. Play until the goal is done and the children are born. Roll the next generation when the heir is born, not before, so you can raise them for the rules.

The heir takes over when they become a young adult. Everyone who is not the heir moves out within one Sim day. Fail the goal of a generation, and the challenge is over. You win when generation 10 meets its goal and its heir becomes a young adult. These are the rules of the Random Legacy Challenge by tigger89, which we read on October 20, 2026. The heir laws come from the Pinstar Legacy Challenge.

Roll again only when you get the same goal, career, or side rule two generations in a row. Base game only keeps the careers, the traits, and the aspirations to what the game ships with.

Every rule the generator can roll

The heir's traits, aspiration, and career come from the same lists as the Sims 4 random trait generator. The rest of the roll comes from these lists.

Household (5)

  • Single. The heir never marries and never has a live-in partner. Children come from flings or adoption.
  • Couple. The heir marries one Sim and stays with them for life. The spouse moves in.
  • Mixed. The heir has two or more partners over the generation. Each child has a different other parent.
  • Single with a helper. The heir stays single, but one friend or relative moves in and can hold a job.
  • Couple with a helper. The heir marries, and one more adult moves in. Only the heir's job counts for the goal.

Heir laws (7)

  • First born. The oldest child of the heir takes over.
  • Last born. The youngest child of the heir takes over.
  • Random. Roll a die among the children when the heir's first child becomes a teen.
  • Democracy. Ask your friends or your viewers to vote when the children are teens.
  • Exemplar. The child with a chosen trait takes over. Roll that trait in the generator above.
  • Merit. The child with the most skill points when the last child becomes a teen takes over.
  • Strength. The child with the highest fitness skill when the last child becomes a teen takes over.

Gender laws (3)

  • Strict equality. Any child can be the heir.
  • Matriarchy. Only a daughter can be the heir. A son takes over only when there is no daughter.
  • Patriarchy. Only a son can be the heir. A daughter takes over only when there is no son.

Side rules (16)

  • Home library. Own 30 books on the lot before the heir's first child becomes a teen.
  • Full house. Fill all 8 household slots at least once during the generation.
  • Pet household. Keep at least one pet at all times. If a pet dies, adopt a new one within a week.
  • Off the grid. The home lot uses the Off the Grid lot trait for the whole generation.
  • No autonomy. Turn autonomy off for the heir. Every action is your choice.
  • Garden to table. The household eats only what it grows, fishes, or cooks from its own harvest.
  • Night owl. The heir sleeps from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and does everything at night.
  • Collector. Complete one collection, such as fossils, frogs, or crystals, before the heir dies.
  • Party host. Throw one party every Sim week and get at least a silver medal.
  • Penny pincher. Never let the household funds go above 20,000 Simoleons. Spend it or donate it.
  • Skill tree. Max one skill the heir's parent never learned.
  • Travel bug. Visit every world you own at least once during the generation.
  • No cheats, no mods. Play the generation without a single cheat and with no gameplay mods.
  • Mentor. Mentor every child in one skill until they reach level 5.
  • Rival. Keep one enemy for the whole generation. Never make up with them.
  • Big spender. Spend at least 100,000 Simoleons on the house before the heir becomes an elder.

Generation goals (10)

  • Legacy home. Build the house up to a value of 300,000 Simoleons.
  • Long life. The heir lives to the last days of the elder stage. No early death.

Questions

Is this the Random Legacy Challenge?

It follows the shape of the Random Legacy Challenge by tigger89: a roll per generation for the household, the children, the career, a side rule, and a goal. The lists of rules are our own, so the rolls differ from the original roller.

When do I roll the next generation?

When the heir is born. Then you can raise them toward their traits and aspiration. Never roll all 10 generations at once.

Can I re-roll?

Yes, when you get the same goal, career, or side rule as the generation before, or when you do not own the pack of a rolled item. Base game only avoids the second case.

Can I use it for a normal Legacy Challenge?

Yes. Use the heir law and the gender law as your succession laws, and ignore the side rule and the goal if you score the Pinstar way.

Is the legacy challenge generator free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, and you can roll as many generations as you want.
