How do you get the Houdini ribbon in BitLife?

How to get the Houdini ribbon in BitLife

To get the Houdini ribbon in BitLife, you must escape from prison at least 10 times in one life. Get sent to prison, solve the escape maze, then go back and escape again. Escapes from juvenile prison count too. With fewer escapes you usually get Jailbird instead. You need no paid pack.

Steps

  1. Commit a crime and get sent to prison. Escapes from juvenile prison also count.
  2. In the prison menu, choose to escape. You get one try per year, through a maze where the guard moves two squares for each move you make.
  3. If the maze looks too hard, quit at once. Quitting costs nothing, but you cannot try again that year.
  4. If the guard catches you, the game adds years for attempted escape. Try again the next year.
  5. Once you are out, commit another crime and go back to prison. Each new sentence is doubled, and a returned escapee usually lands in maximum security.
  6. Repeat until you have 10 or more successful escapes, then live out the life.

Tips

  • Maximum security mazes are bigger and need more precision. Learning their layouts makes later escapes much easier.
  • Candywriter's help center says every escape puzzle has at least one solution, so a maze that looks closed can still be solved.
  • Enlisting in the military, or picking Call the police in a scenario, gets an escaped convict caught and sent back.
  • Escape fast instead of serving your time. Five or more years in prison points the game to Scandalous.
  • Do not stop early. Fewer than 10 escapes usually gives Jailbird, and one escape with no return can give Cunning.

Questions

How many times do you have to escape for the Houdini ribbon?

At least 10 successful escapes in one life. Failed tries do not count.

Do juvenile prison escapes count for Houdini?

Yes. The wiki says escaping juvenile prison counts. A parent may even send you back after an escape, which gives you another chance to escape.

Why is escaping prison so hard in BitLife?

The game makes it hard on purpose, and the wiki says this ribbon got much harder after the August 2019 prison update. The guard moves twice for each of your moves, but always toward the row you are in, so walls can trap it.

Can you get Houdini without going back to prison?

No. You need 10 separate escapes, so you must return to prison after each one.

If you want a life sim where you type what you do

BitLife gives you a menu of choices. LifeSim is a free life sim in your browser, set on a real map of Earth. You type what you do and say, and the people in your city answer in their own words and remember you. There are no packs to buy. It is single player and in English.
