BitLife ribbons

Every BitLife ribbon, how to earn it, and where three guides disagree on the numbers.

A ribbon is a label that BitLife gives to a finished life. Your character dies, and the game names the way that the character lived. Examples are Lazy, Hero, and Geriatric.

Level Winner states two rules. You earn only one ribbon in each life, even if you qualify for several. You also do not learn which ribbon you earned until the character dies. Newsweek says that you earn a ribbon by reaching “specific stats or goals” during the life.

We opened three guides on October 13, 2026. They date from December 2018 to April 2019. They disagree with each other on the count and on some numbers. This post shows where they agree, where they differ, and how to check the rest in your own game.

The three guides give three different counts. The reason is the date of each guide.

GuideDateCount
Level WinnerDecember 13, 201811 ribbons
NewsweekFebruary 201927 ribbons in the list. The page also says 24 and 25.
DroidGamersApril 24, 201930 ribbons

The studio added ribbons over time. Newsweek says that Rowdy, Wicked, and Cunning came in a patch in December 2018. It says that Family Guy and Thief came in a patch on February 7, 2019.

We did not find a current count in the pages that we opened. The game has had many patches since April 2019. Treat 30 as the count of April 2019, not as the count of today.

Level Winner calls four ribbons easy. All three guides agree on the first two.

Lazy

Press the Age button until the character dies. Do nothing else.

Wasteful

End the life at the start. Use the End Life option in the Activities tab.

Fertile

Have four kids. DroidGamers adds: do little else with the life.

Mediocre

Achieve nothing. Level Winner says to ignore incidents and keep a low-paying job. Newsweek adds: stay single, and buy no house and no car.

These ribbons ask for a careful life. The guides agree on the main steps.

Hero

Be kind and avoid fights. Level Winner says to forgive, help others, and work a heroic job. DroidGamers says to max out the karma. Newsweek adds: apologize after a rift, and rescue people when you can.

Academic

Study hard and go to university. Newsweek names a master’s degree or a doctorate. DroidGamers adds a visit to the library once each year.

Geriatric

Live past 100, and do not stand out in other ways. DroidGamers says that it helps to max out your health.

Family Guy

Marry and have kids. Keep your family bars at green. Newsweek says to spend time with the kids each year.

This is the clearest case of a guide that is out of date. The three guides give three different numbers. The number was probably changed in a patch, but no guide says so.

RibbonLevel Winner (Dec 2018)Newsweek (Feb 2019)DroidGamers (Apr 2019)
RichNet worth of at least 2.5 millionNet 1 million, but do not pass 10 millionEarn at least 1 million
LoadedNet worth of at least 30 millionAt least 10 million at deathEarn over 10 million
SuccessfulNot listedEarn over 500,000 but under 1 million, with a spouse, kids, a house, and a carMarry, have kids, earn well, and own nice things, but not so nice that you become rich

Level Winner says that assets count for Rich and Loaded, not only cash. Plan for the higher number, and watch your net worth on the screen of your character.

The guides list these. Each description is the version that the guides give.

  • Scandalous: start fights, and spend time in prison. Newsweek says to be confrontational.
  • Jailbird: spend as much of the life as possible in prison. Avoid escapes and appeals.
  • Cunning: escape from prison, and do not get caught again.
  • Houdini: escape from prison more than one time in one life.
  • Thief: steal often, and do not get caught. Newsweek says that a jail term ends the run.
  • Deadly: Newsweek says to kill two or more people. DroidGamers says to become a serial killer.
  • Rowdy: host house parties and argue often. Newsweek adds drugs and clubs, but no jail.

Remember the one-ribbon rule. A life that fits two ribbons gets one. DroidGamers gives an example. For the Wicked ribbon, avoid single encounters, or you can get Lustful instead.

A few ribbons have a very specific rule.

  • Teammate: become a mobile app developer. DroidGamers says to get a job with Candywriter, the studio of BitLife. Newsweek adds a birthplace of Tucson or Miami, high intelligence, and a Computer Science degree.
  • High Roller: make millions from gambling. Newsweek says a lifetime gain of 1 million or more.
  • Globetrotter: travel often, and move to many countries.
  • Unlucky: die young from an accident or a terminal illness. Level Winner says that this one is mostly up to chance.

The three guides are old. The newest one is from April 2019. We could not confirm these facts.

  • The count of ribbons in the game today.
  • The current money numbers for Rich, Loaded, and Successful.
  • The place where the game shows your ribbons. None of the three guides explains it.
  • Whether the paid add-ons change a ribbon. We cover one add-on in BitLife God Mode.

To check a ribbon, play a short life with the rule in mind. A life in BitLife takes a few minutes, so a wrong guess costs little. Note the result, and use the number that your game shows.

A ribbon gives each short life an aim. That is the strength of BitLife. You can finish a life in minutes, read the label, and begin again. If this is the style that you like, read games like BitLife for more. The post about the price of BitLife lists the paid parts.

A simple plan helps. Pick one ribbon before you start the life. Read the rule in the table above. Make each choice in the life serve that rule. When the life ends, compare the ribbon with your plan, and note which step failed. After three or four lives you know the system well.

LifeSim has a different pace. You live one life on a real map of Earth, and the clock runs by itself. The people you meet remember what you did. It does not fit a player who wants a quick label and a new life every five minutes. For the full comparison, read LifeSim vs BitLife.

Can you earn more than one ribbon in one life?

No. Level Winner says that you earn only one, even if you qualify for several.

When do you see your ribbon?

After the character dies. Level Winner says that you do not know the ribbon before that.

What is the fastest ribbon?

Wasteful. End the life at the start with the End Life option.

What ribbon do you get for doing nothing?

Lazy. Press the Age button until the character dies.
