Pack: Base game.
Steps
PC
- Back up your saves. Copy Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 to your desktop and rename it, for example Sims 4 Backup.
- EA app: open the EA app and log in. Choose The Sims 4.
- Select Manage, then choose Uninstall from the dropdown. Select Yes if asked.
- If the EA app cannot uninstall it, open the Control Panel and select Uninstall a program under Programs and Features. Right-click The Sims 4 and choose Uninstall.

Mac
- Back up your saves. Copy Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 to your desktop.
- Open the EA app, choose The Sims 4, select Manage and choose Uninstall.
- If that does not work, open Applications, Ctrl-click or right-click The Sims 4 and select Move to Trash.
PlayStation and Xbox
- Find The Sims 4 in your console's game library or storage settings.
- Open the game's options and choose to delete or uninstall it.
- To play again later, download The Sims 4 from the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store. The base game is free.
Keep your saves when you uninstall
On PC and Mac, your saves, Tray files (saved Sims and lots) and mods are in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, apart from the game files. Copy that whole folder somewhere safe before you uninstall.
To restore it after you reinstall, paste the backup into Documents > Electronic Arts and rename it back to The Sims 4.
Uninstall one pack on Mac
Turn off automatic updates in the EA app settings first. Open the game's folder (by default Applications > EA Games), move the pack's folder to the Trash, then open the EA app and select Repair from the three-dot menu on the game tile.
Common problems
The EA app will not uninstall the game
Use Windows Control Panel > Programs and Features > Uninstall a program, or on Mac move the game from Applications to the Trash.
The game still shows in my library after I uninstall
That is normal. The game stays on your account so you can install it again later.
My saves are gone after a reinstall
Copy your backup folder back into Documents > Electronic Arts and name it The Sims 4. The game reads saves from that folder.
I uninstalled the EA app and the game stopped working
The EA app is needed to play. Reinstall it and log in; it looks for games you already installed. If something is missing, uninstall the game and install it again through the EA app.
