Bring your Sims 4 household into LifeSim

Yes. Add the household's Tray files, a full save, or the .zip that you downloaded, in the LifeSim builder. Each Sim becomes a person in your new life, in a real city. You choose which one you play. It is free, in the browser.

Add the household's Tray files, a full save, or a .zip of either. LifeSim is not made by Electronic Arts or Maxis and is not connected to The Sims 4. The import only reads what you give it.

Import your household

  1. One household: save it to your Library in The Sims 4. The game writes its files to the Tray folder.
  2. On Windows, open Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Tray. On a Mac, open Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Tray.
  3. Add the whole Tray folder. LifeSim lists the households in it, and you choose one. Or pick the files of one household: the .trayitem, the .householdbinary, and the .hhi and .sgi pictures.
  4. A whole save: open the Saves folder next to Tray, and add a Slot file that ends in .save. A save from CurseForge or another site: add the .zip as you downloaded it.
  5. A household from ModTheSims or The Sims Resource: add the .zip as you downloaded it. Unpack a .rar or a .7z first.
  6. A household from the Gallery: download it to your Library in the game. Then it is in your Tray folder too.

LifeSim reads the facts that the game saved: names, ages, traits, the aspiration, the career and its level, skills, family ties, the household funds, and the household story.

A save holds hundreds of households. LifeSim lists them with a search box: type a family, a Sim, a lot, or a world. Each row shows the members, the home lot, and the money.

From a save, up to 4 Sims of other households come along too: a partner, family, or close friends.

Tray files have portraits, and LifeSim reads the looks from them. A save has no portraits, so LifeSim reads the skin tone, the hair color, the eye color, and the build from Create a Sim.

A household has up to 8 Sims. You choose the Sim you play, or none of them. The others become the people of your life.

The facts of the base game and the packs come through. Custom traits, careers, and aspirations from mods drop out.

  1. Press the import button on this page. It opens the LifeSim builder with the import sheet open and the game chosen. In the builder, the same sheet is next to the + in the row of people.
  2. Add the files of the household, its whole folder, or a .zip of it. The builder opens the files on your device.
  3. If the files hold more than one household, choose one.
  4. Choose the member you play, or none of them. LifeSim writes a person for each of the others.
  5. Check each person, change anything you want, and start your life.
  • Every member of the household, up to 8: the first and last name, the age, and the gender
  • From a full save, up to 4 close Sims of other households: a partner, family, or friends
  • Who they are to you, from the family tree and the relationships: "my wife", "my son", "my best friend"
  • The job, from the career and its level, or "student" and "retired"
  • The personality, from the traits
  • A life goal, from the aspiration
  • The past: skills, degrees, the household story, and more
  • Starting money, from the household funds
  • The looks. LifeSim draws a new portrait in its own style, from the Sim portraits or from the Create a Sim data of a save.
  • Pets. LifeSim has no pets, so the past of their owner names them instead, for example "Lives with Buddy, a dog."
  • Custom traits, careers, and aspirations from mods
  • The house, the lot, and the furniture. Your household gets a home in a real city.
  • Custom content files, such as hair and clothes. They can show in the portraits that LifeSim reads.
  • Other Sims of the town. A full Sims 4 save brings up to 4 close ones along.

LifeSim reads the link, the file, or the text to write the people. It stores the screenshots you add on its servers.

LifeSim is rated 13+. Imported people pass the same checks as anything you type in the builder.

LifeSim is a free life sim. You pick a real city on a 3D map of Earth, and you live there. The people you import live there too. They have homes, jobs, and friends, and their week goes on while you are away.

You talk to them in your own words, and they remember what you said. It plays in the browser at play.lifesim.com, and there is an iPhone app. There are no ads and nothing to buy. Read what LifeSim is.

Can I play my Sims 4 Sims in a different game?

Yes. LifeSim reads your household's Tray files or your save, and turns each Sim into a person in a real city. They keep their names, their family ties, their jobs, and their traits.

Can I import a whole Sims 4 save?

Yes. Add the Slot file from your Saves folder, or a .zip that holds one. Search the households of the save, pick one, and up to 4 of their close Sims from other households come along.

Do I need a mod or another tool?

No. LifeSim reads the Tray files and the saves as the game wrote them. Add them in the builder in your browser.

Does custom content come over?

Not as files. LifeSim draws new portraits from the pictures that the game saved, so custom hair and clothes can show in them. Custom traits from mods drop out.

Do pets come over?

No. LifeSim has no pets. The past of their owner names them, for example "Lives with Buddy, a dog."

Can I import a household from the Gallery?

Yes. Download it to your Library in The Sims 4 first. Then add it from your Tray folder.

Is this made by EA?

No. LifeSim is not made by Electronic Arts or Maxis, and it is not connected to The Sims 4.
