How to open the console and type cheats
Hold Ctrl + Shift + C on your Windows keyboard to bring up the console bar. You type your chosen command directly into this box.
If you forget a command, type help into the bar to see a list. You can also type help followed by part of a name to search for matches, or a full name to read its instructions. Type expand to make the console box taller, and type it again to make it smaller.
What boolProp switches are and which ones help
Some commands in The Sims 2 start with boolProp or intProp. These act as switches that you set to true, false, or a number.
The most famous switch is boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true. After you enter it, you can hold Shift and click on Sims or objects to open hidden cheat menus. If you have the Pets expansion, boolProp controlPets true lets you direct your pets just like regular Sims.
Builders often use boolProp snapObjectsToGrid false to place items freely without the tile grid. You can pair that with boolProp allow45DegreeAngleOfRotation true to rotate items in 45 degree steps instead of 90. For screen effects like bloom or filmGrain, you must first enter boolProp enablePostProcessing true.
Cheats to reach for first by goal
When your household needs quick money, type kaChing for 1,000 Simoleons or motherLode for 50,000 Simoleons. You can also use familyFunds with a family name, like familyFunds Goth +10000, to add or subtract funds.
To keep your household happy, type maxMotives to fill the need bars for every Sim on the lot. Follow that with motiveDecay off so their needs stop falling. You can also type aging off so your Sims stay at their current age.
When you build or decorate, type moveObjects on to grab and delete items the game normally locks in place. If you want a taller house, use setHighestAllowedLevel 8 to change how many floors you can stack. For roof adjustments, individualRoofSlopeAngle 30 sets the angle of your next roof anywhere from 15 to 75 degrees.
