How to hire a butler in The Sims 4
You need the Vintage Glamour Stuff pack. Click your Sim's phone, open Household (the house icon), choose Hire a Service and pick the butler. A random butler moves onto your lot. It costs §175 up front plus §12 an hour, paid weekly. To fire them, click the butler and choose Management, then Fire.

Steps
- Install Vintage Glamour Stuff and load your household.
- Make sure the lot has a free bed. The butler lives on your lot.
- Click your Sim's phone and open Household (the house icon).
- Choose Hire a Service, then the butler.
- A random butler is assigned to your household.
- Click the butler to give orders under Assign Task, Visitors, Management and Responsibilities.
What the butler does
On their own, butlers clean, check for dust, garden and repair objects. They also look after children unless you turn that off.
Under Assign Task you can have them cook a meal, a family meal or a party meal, play guitar, piano or violin, do a comedy routine, repair or clean an object, or attend a minor. Under Visitors they can let all visitors in, turn them away or ignore the front door.
How to fire or dismiss a butler
Click the butler and choose Management, then Fire. The next hire brings a new butler.
To pause the service instead, use the phone: Household, then Dismiss Butler Service. Sims Community says hiring again after a dismissal brings back the same butler.
Common problems
The butler won't move in or keeps leaving
Give them a free bed. Butlers live on the lot, and you can claim any unclaimed bed for them.
I can't hire a new butler
If you added the butler to your household without dismissing them first, the game blocks a new hire. Remove that Sim from the household, then hire again.
The butler still cares for the baby after I said stop
This is known behavior: butlers care for babies even with Attend for Minors turned off.
