How to start
- Make a new household of two Sims, both at the adult age (not young adult). One of them must be able to get pregnant.
- The two Sims must be set as Roommates in Create a Sim. They may be human or alien, but not vampires.
- Traits, aspirations, looks and names are your choice. Gallery Sims are fine if they are adults with no skill points.
- Move onto any lot you can afford, empty or built, of any size. A pre-built house must not contain career rewards or collectibles that cannot be bought in buy mode.
The rules
- The couple must have at least one child before they become elders. The first baby born is the Wonder Child. With twins, the first one you name is the Wonder Child.
- The Wonder Child may have any father, but nobody new may move, marry or merge into the household. No adoption.
- No unfair cheats or mods. Visual mods and bug fixes are allowed.
- Lifespan must be Normal. No Potions of Youth or cow plant milk for anyone.
- No resurrection. Pleading with the Grim Reaper is allowed.
- You may pick traits and aspirations for every Sim at age-up and change aspirations any time.
- The plumbob mood lamps are banned. Other mood aura objects you earn, find or make are allowed.
- After the Wonder Child is born, you may not follow parents to active careers, and the Wonder Child must go along whenever you open a family retail store.
- You fail if the couple become elders with no child, or if the Wonder Child dies or is taken by social services.
How you win
The challenge ends the moment the Wonder Child becomes a young adult (after the party ends, if you throw one). Spend leftover aspiration points, total the score, and the creator asks you to share the Sim on the gallery with the #WonderChild tag.
Scoring
- Only the Wonder Child earns points. Parents and siblings never add to the score.
- 1 point per skill level the Wonder Child gains, including toddler and child skills.
- 3 bonus points for each skill taken to level 10.
- 10 points for every trait the Wonder Child has, including personality traits, aspiration reward traits and Parenthood upbringing traits. Business perks do not count.
- 10 points for earning a bonus toddler trait, plus 5 if every toddler skill hits its max (level 5, or 3 for potty).
- 2 points if the toddler never needs a diaper change during toddlerhood.
- As a child: when they become an A student, score 1 point per day left before they turn teen, kept only if they end childhood with an A.
- As a teen: the same for an A in high school, and again for reaching the top of a teen career, counting days left before young adult. Losing the grade or job loses those points.
- 5 points for each gold-medal birthday party for the Wonder Child (child to teen, and teen to young adult).
Tips
- Try for the baby right away. The parents start as adults, so they have fewer days left before elderhood to have the child and help raise it.
- Get the Wonder Child to an A grade as early as you can in childhood and teen years. Points count from the number of days still left in that life stage.
- Train potty skill early in toddlerhood. Low-skill toddlers fill their diapers when their bladder is only half empty, which makes the 2-point clean diaper bonus hard.
