Life in Jaipur

Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan and is known as the Pink City for its terracotta-colored historic center. Daily life mixes traditional bazaars and courtyard mansions with modern avenues, tech parks, and shopping malls. People take afternoon breaks during the hot summers and meet at evening tea stalls and parks.

Where to live in Jaipur

The Walled City

C-Scheme

Leafy central streets with independent fashion boutiques, art cafes, and corporate offices.

Vaishali Nagar

Wide roads in the west with high-rise apartments, gyms, and family restaurants.

Malviya Nagar

A southern hub near the airport and tech parks with shopping malls and parks.

Mansarovar

A large planned grid of quiet housing sectors, student hostels, vegetable markets, and metro stations.

Money and the cost of living in Jaipur

In Jaipur, the local currency is the Indian Rupee. Locals scan UPI QR codes with mobile apps for most daily purchases. You also need cash for street food stalls, auto-rickshaws, and traditional bazaars. Upscale hotels, shopping malls, and modern restaurants accept credit and debit cards.

Living costs vary by neighborhood across the city. Central areas like C-Scheme, Civil Lines, and JLN Marg are the most expensive. Established districts like Vaishali Nagar, Malviya Nagar, and Mansarovar offer mid-range housing. Outer neighborhoods like Jagatpura, Pratap Nagar, and Sanganer have cheaper apartments.

LifeSim does not charge rent, bills, or metro fares. You also do not receive a regular salary. Instead, your cash changes when you do activities and chat with people around the city.

Seasons and weather in the Pink City

Jaipur sits on the edge of the Thar Desert and flanked by the Aravalli hills. From March to June, the summer brings dry heat above 40 degrees Celsius and hot desert winds called the Loo. Residents take afternoon breaks indoors and go out in the evenings to street-side tea stalls.

From July to September, the monsoon brings heavy rain that cools the air and turns the Aravalli hills green. Winter runs from November to February with sunny days and cool nights that drop below 10 degrees Celsius. Every January 14, residents gather on rooftops to fly kites and eat sesame sweets for Makar Sankranti.

The 3D map in LifeSim shows the weather as you walk around the streets. You can plan outdoor outings at Central Park or Ram Niwas Garden and talk with your friends.

A sample life: a designer in C-Scheme

Priya, 26, starts a life as a jewelry designer living in C-Scheme. She sets two life goals: make close friends and launch a new silver collection.

In her first week, Priya searches the map for Johari Bazaar in the Walled City and walks there. She meets a gemstone cutter, and they talk in their own words about local designs. Later, she goes to Tapri Central near Central Park to drink tea.

In week two, the gemstone cutter texts Priya on his own and invites her to an evening food outing. They walk to Masala Chowk in Ram Niwas Garden with two other friends and talk as a group. Each day ends with a recap, and her friends remember what she said.

Getting around Jaipur

In the real city, most middle-class commuters use motorcycles, scooters, and cars on main roads like Tonk Road and JLN Marg. The Jaipur Metro Pink Line runs east to west from Mansarovar to Badi Chaupar in the Walled City. People also use JCTSL city buses, auto-rickshaws, and e-rickshaws.

Walking is the main way to move through the narrow lanes and historic gateways, called Pols, of the Old City. Many residents go for morning walks or ride bicycles around Jawahar Circle and the Jal Mahal promenade.

LifeSim does not have driving mini-games or trains you ride. You move around the real 3D map by searching for a place and going there. You can search for Patrika Gate, Albert Hall Museum, or a cafe on M.I. Road and walk the streets.
