Fortaleza is the capital of Ceará on the Atlantic coast of Northeastern Brazil. Daily life follows the warm coastal wind, with walks along Avenida Beira Mar and evenings at open-air beach shacks called barracas. You can live in a high-rise in Meireles, study in Benfica, or work in the shops of Aldeota.

In Fortaleza, most residents use the municipal bus network run by ETUFOR. Buses connect at hubs like Terminal da Parangaba, Terminal do Papicu, and Terminal de Messejana using the Bilhete Único card. Metrofor runs the Linha Sul subway, the Linha Oeste, and the VLT Parangaba to Mucuripe light rail.

Many people cycle on flat bike lanes called ciclovias with the Bicicletar bike-share system. Others walk along Avenida Beira Mar or drive along Avenida Santos Dumont and Avenida Washington Soares. In LifeSim, you do not drive cars or ride trains. You search the 3D map for any street, market, or station and walk there.

Fortaleza has major industries in tourism, retail, food processing, textiles, healthcare, renewable energy, and submarine fiber-optic cables. Big employers include M. Dias Branco, Hapvida, Farmácias Pague Menos, Banco do Nordeste, and Aeris Energy. Many young people study at Universidade Federal do Ceará, Universidade de Fortaleza, or Universidade Estadual do Ceará.

In LifeSim, you choose any job by writing it in your character prompt. You can be a nurse, a hotel manager in Meireles, a bank clerk, or a comedian. The game has no career ladder or job performance score. Your coworkers and neighbors react to your job when you chat.

In real life, living costs vary across the city. Coastal and eastern districts like Meireles, Mucuripe, Aldeota, and Cocó are the most expensive. Central areas like Benfica, Fátima, and Joaquim Távora sit in the middle, while inland districts like Parangaba and Messejana are cheaper.

People in Fortaleza use the Brazilian Real. Locals pay for almost everything with Pix, an instant digital transfer and QR code system. Credit and debit cards also work at most shops and restaurants. You still need a little cash for small street stalls and beach vendors.

LifeSim does not charge rent or pay a regular salary. You do not pay bills or mortgages. Instead, your cash changes directly through the activities you do and the chats you have.

Fortaleza sits just south of the Equator, so the weather stays hot and humid all year. Steady ocean trade winds cool the coast. From February to May, the rainy season brings heavy tropical downpours mixed with sunny hours.

From August to December, the dry season brings bright skies, no rain, and strong winds. Locals spend dry evenings at the Feirinha da Beira Mar or eating fried fish at Mercado dos Peixes in Mucuripe. The 3D map in LifeSim shows the weather as you walk around the city.

Lucas, 21, starts life as a student at Universidade Federal do Ceará living in Benfica. He sets two life goals: make a group of close friends and explore the coast. On his first morning, he searches the map for Mercado São Sebastião to eat breakfast.

On Thursday, a classmate texts him an invite to a bar in Praia de Iracema for Quinta do Caranguejo. Lucas plans an outing, invites two neighbors, and they walk to Ponte dos Ingleses before dinner. On Saturday, a house party happening appears on the map in Aldeota. Every person Lucas meets remembers their chats and writes about the week in their journal.
