The Breed Out the Ugly Challenge by MaggieMarley (wrote the official rules in 2018; she says the idea existed before her) is a Sims 4 challenge. It runs over many generations. There is no set number of generations unless you also play by Legacy Challenge rules (then 10).

How to start
- Make a founder who is as ugly or strange-looking as you can; if they are not ugly enough, you finish in a few generations.
- The founder starts with the default 20,000 simoleons and may take any job.
- Aging on with a normal lifespan for your household.
- Pick a difficulty: easy, medium or hard.
The rules
- Never change the looks of the founder, spouses or children in CAS.
- Heirs must have children with premades, townies or their descendants, not with Sims you made or downloaded (easy and medium players may relax this).
- The founder may marry or stay single, and may have children with one partner or several.
- No money cheats. No aging children up before their birthday.
- No fertility trait, fertility lot trait, fertility massage or mods that raise the odds of twins.
- The heir must be a biological child of the last heir; adopted children cannot inherit. Alien abduction babies can.
- Spouses take the founder's surname, and every child carries it.
- If an heir dies with no children, the challenge is over. If a child heir dies, a sibling takes over or the parent must have another child.
- Easy: as many children as you like, pick the best-looking heir; aging can be off for other households.
- Medium: up to three children, pick the best-looking heir.
- Hard: aging on for every household and the firstborn is always heir, even among twins.
- Optional extras: no gender picking or peeking at pregnancies, random names, random traits, and adding Pinstar's Legacy rules.
How you win
Get an heir who looks normal. There is no set number of generations unless you also play by Legacy Challenge rules (then 10).
Tips
- Push several face and body sliders to their extremes on the founder; sliders that change head and jaw shape take the longest to breed out.
- In the medium or hard versions, a spouse with a strong, even-looking face from a premade family helps most, since children blend both parents.
- Turn on aging for other households (or use MC Command Center) so townies marry and have kids, which widens the pool of partners for later heirs.

Questions
What is the Breed Out the Ugly Challenge in Sims 4?
You make the ugliest Sim you can and have children with normal-looking townies until an heir looks normal, with no CAS edits to anyone's looks.
How many generations is Breed Out the Ugly?
No fixed number: it ends when you get a normal-looking heir, unless you also follow Legacy rules, which set 10.
Can you make the spouse in Breed Out the Ugly?
Not in the official rules: spouses must be premades or townies. The rules writer says easy and medium players may ignore this, but it makes it much easier.
