How to start
- Start a new game and make one founder Sim in Create a Sim.
- The founder must be a young adult and must live alone.
- Looks, traits, aspiration and custom content for the founder are your choice.
- Move the founder onto an empty lot. Any lot size is now allowed, though small lots leave less room for ten generations.
- After moving in, use the money cheat to set household funds to 1,800 simoleons (regular start) or 0 (Extreme Start).
- Before you begin, pick three succession laws: a gender law, a bloodline law and an heir law. Owners of Get to Work may also pick a species law.
- Optional Extreme Start: an empty 64x64 Windenburg lot with funds set to 0, begun in winter if you own Seasons. It is worth 1 bonus point.
- Optional Ultra Extreme Start: the Chateau Peak lot in Del Sol Valley (Get Famous) with the Celebrity Home lot trait and a 35,000 simoleon 'loan' that must be repaid by buying set items before the founder dies. It is worth 2 bonus points.
The rules
- Play one family for ten generations. Only the legacy household may be played in the save.
- No cheats, mods or hacks that give an edge over a player without them. MC Command Center is allowed to raise the household size limit.
- No reloading to undo bad outcomes. Reloading after a crash or bug is fine.
- The family must stay on its starting lot for the whole challenge (vacations are fine). You may rebuild and expand the house.
- Lifespan must be set to Normal. Each Sim may use one anti-aging item (such as a youth potion or cow plant milk) once in their life.
- A Sim's aspiration can only be changed after they complete it, and not to one they already finished.
- Dead Sims cannot be resurrected. Pleading with the Grim Reaper is allowed.
- The current heir may never move or marry out. Spares may leave but cannot come back.
- Only spouses may join the family, and they must bring no money. You may add several spouses, but only one primary spouse per generation.
- Children come from pregnancy, science babies, alien abduction or adoption. Adopted children must be babies, and not while another baby lives in the house.
- Children's traits and aspirations are rolled with the creator's random trait generator at each age-up. No rerolling.
- The heir is set by your succession laws and is locked in when the previous heir dies or the current heir has an eligible child.
- The Lottery holiday, the Money Tree reward and the Potion of Immortality are banned. The Wishing Well can be used once per Sim.
How you win

Scoring
- Maximum is 100 points across ten categories of 10 points each, plus optional pack points and handicaps (up to 108 listed by the creator).

- Creative: 1 point per generation for memorializing the heir and primary spouse (song, comedy routine, portrait, biography, video game or photo, each needing a set skill level). The tenth point needs one Sim to finish two of the three creative aspirations.
- Fortune: points at household wealth steps from 75,000 (1 point) up to 5,700,000 simoleons (10 points). Family business funds count.

- Food: ten single-point food tasks, such as a top-quality Baked Alaska, upgraded best fridge and stove, and six Sims eating at one table.
- Popularity: medals from parties and dates (gold 3, silver 2, bronze 1); 1 point per 9 medal points. The tenth point needs one Sim to gold every party type and a date.
- Deviance: 1 point per 2 unused Potions of Youth stored in the house, up to 10 points for 20 potions.
- Optional: 2 Parenthood points, 3 Seasons family-holiday points, 1 Discover University 'legacy college' point, 1 point for an Extreme Start or 2 for the Ultra Extreme Start.
- Penalties: minus 1 point each time power or water is cut for unpaid bills, and each time social services takes a child.
Tips
- Your first money will come from collecting, gardening and selling paintings or books, not from a big salary. Put down a cheap bed, toilet and fridge first and plant a garden early.
- Write down your succession laws and keep a scoresheet from day one. Categories like Deviance and Love are easy to forget until it is too late to catch up.
- Save Potions of Youth from aspiration points and lock them in a room no Sim can reach so nobody drinks them by accident.
