Is The Sims 4 on mobile?
No. The Sims 4 has no iPhone app and no Android app. You can only stream the game to a phone from a computer, a console, or the Xbox cloud.
The official EA page for The Sims 4 lists Windows, Mac, PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. It does not list iOS or Android. The Steam page lists Windows only. We opened every source on this page on November 1, 2026.
| Device | Official Sims 4? | What the sources say |
|---|---|---|
| Windows PC | Yes | EA app, Steam, and Epic Games Store |
| Mac | Yes | EA app for Mac |
| PlayStation and Xbox | Yes | PlayStation Store and Xbox Store |
| iPhone and iPad | No | Streaming only |
| Android phones and tablets | No | Streaming only |
The base game is free on every official store. For the details, read is The Sims 4 free. To check if your computer can run it, use our Sims 4 system requirements guide.
Is the Sims 4 APK for Android real?
No. EA does not release The Sims 4 for Android, so a “Sims 4 APK” is not an official file. Do not install it.
An APK is an Android app file. Sites that offer a “Sims 4 mobile download” do not come from EA. The file can be a different game, a fake that asks for surveys, or harmful software. The Sims 4 is a large Windows and Mac game. A small phone file cannot contain it.
Google warns about this risk. Google Play Protect checks your phone for “potentially harmful apps from other sources.” It can warn you, turn off an app, or remove it. That check does not make an unofficial file safe.
How to stay safe
- Get The Sims 4 only from the EA app, Steam, the Epic Games Store, PlayStation Store, or Xbox Store.
- Do not type your EA login into a site that promises The Sims 4 on a phone.
- Do not turn off Google Play Protect to install a game file.
- Install EA phone games only from the App Store or Google Play.
Can you play The Sims 4 on your phone with Steam Link?
Yes, if you own The Sims 4 on Steam and your PC is on. Steam Link streams the game from the PC to the phone. The PC does all the work.
Valve says that you can “play your Steam games on your phone, tablet, TV, in VR, or another PC.” The free Steam Link app is on iPhone, iPad, and Android. The App Store listing says that the phone must be “on the same local network as the computer running Steam.”
What Steam lists for The Sims 4
The Sims 4 Steam page lists “Remote Play on Tablet.” It does not list “Remote Play on Phone.” So Steam marks the game as good for a tablet, not for a small phone screen. The page also lists a “Mouse Only Option.”
How to set it up
- Install The Sims 4 from Steam on a Windows PC.
- Install the Steam Link app on the phone or tablet.
- Connect the phone and the PC to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Pair the app with the PC, then start the game.
For best results, the App Store listing tells you to connect the PC to the router with Ethernet. It also tells you to put the phone on the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band. The listing says to pair a controller.
The problems
The Sims 4 uses many small menus that need a mouse. On a phone screen, these menus are very small. An iPad or an Android tablet is a better choice. We did not test touch or mouse input in Steam Link.
For a portable PC that runs the game itself, read The Sims 4 on Steam Deck.
Can you play The Sims 4 on your phone with PS Remote Play or Xbox Remote Play?
Yes, if you own The Sims 4 on a PlayStation or an Xbox. The console runs the game and streams it to your phone.
Sims Community tested this in 2020 on an iPad Pro. It says that you can play The Sims 4 this way, “providing you already own the game on console.” It used the Xbox app for Xbox One and the PS Remote Play app for PS4.
| Requirement | PS Remote Play | Xbox Remote Play |
|---|---|---|
| Console | PS4 or PS5 | Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, with remote features on |
| Phone | iOS 14 or later, or Android 9 or later | iOS 15.1 or later, or Android 6.0 or later |
| Internet | At least 5 Mbps; Sony recommends 15 Mbps | 5 GHz Wi-Fi or mobile data at 10 Mbps down |
| Controls | A PlayStation controller or on-screen touch controls | A Bluetooth controller or on-screen touch controls |
The phone app versions change. The PS Remote Play App Store listing asks for a newer iOS than the Sony page. Check the store listing on your phone.
Both companies warn about mobile data. Sony says that remote play “will use your mobile data allowance.” Use Wi-Fi when you can.
The console version is not the same as the PC version. For example, it has no mods. Read Sims 4 on console vs PC before you pick a platform.
Is The Sims 4 on Xbox Cloud Gaming?
Yes. The Xbox Store page lists “XBOX Cloud Gaming” as a way to play The Sims 4. This is the only option that does not need your own PC or console.
The page says: “Cloud playable game included with XBOX Game Pass Ultimate.” The Xbox Cloud Gaming page lists “Apple or Android phones and tablets” as devices. On the web, Xbox asks for a supported browser such as Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, or Safari.
What you need
- A Game Pass subscription that includes cloud play. The Sims 4 page names Game Pass Ultimate.
- A compatible controller, connected with Bluetooth or USB.
- A fast and stable internet connection.
Xbox says that “select games” work with touch controls. The Sims 4 Xbox page does not say that it has touch controls. Plan to use a controller.
The base game is free on Xbox. The Xbox Cloud Gaming page says that free-to-play games need only a free Microsoft account. But the Sims 4 page ties cloud play to Game Pass Ultimate. The two pages do not agree, so check the store page before you pay. Our Sims 4 on Game Pass post has more detail.
What Sims games does EA make for phones?
Today, The Sims FreePlay is the only official Sims game on phones. The Sims Mobile closed in January 2026. Project Rene is in development and has no release date.
The Sims FreePlay
EA publishes The Sims FreePlay on the App Store and Google Play. It is free, with in-app purchases and ads. The App Store listing asks for iOS 15.0 or later and rates it 13+. It says that “a network connection is required to play.”
In FreePlay, you build homes and grow a town called SimTown. It is a different game from The Sims 4. Your Sims 4 saves, packs, and mods do not work in it.
The Sims Mobile
The Sims Mobile was a separate game, not a phone version of The Sims 4. EA closed it. Read what happened to The Sims Mobile for the dates.
Project Rene
EA wrote about Project Rene on January 9, 2026. EA says that it “has evolved into a social, collaborative, mobile-first life-sim game.” EA also says that it is “not the successor to The Sims 4.”
The same EA post says that EA is building “new Sims experiences across PC, console, and mobile.” It says that EA will keep updating The Sims 4. It mentions playtests in 2026, but it gives no release date. We found no newer Project Rene post on the EA news page. Read our Project Rene guide for the full story.
What life sims can you play on a phone?
The Sims FreePlay, BitLife, and LifeSim run on phones today. None of them is The Sims 4.
| Game | iPhone | Android | Style |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Sims FreePlay | App Store | Google Play | Official Sims game with houses, careers, and a town |
| BitLife | App Store | Google Play | Text life sim, one year at a time |
| LifeSim | App Store, iOS 16.4 or later | In the browser | One life in a real city, with open-text talk |
| The Sims 4 | Streaming only | Streaming only | Full PC and console game |
BitLife is free to download, but it sells upgrades. See what BitLife costs. For computer games with the Sims style, read games like The Sims.
Where does LifeSim fit if you want a life sim on your phone?
LifeSim is our game. It is a free life sim that runs on an iPhone, an iPad, and in a phone browser. It is not The Sims 4.
In LifeSim, you make a character and pick a real city on Earth. The map is the real Earth, in 3D. Each character has a memory, goals, relationships, and a daily routine. You talk with them in open text, with no dialogue trees.
The iPhone and iPad app is “LifeSim - sims on earth” by Lifesim, Inc. Android phones play in the browser at play.lifesim.com. LifeSim has no ads, no subscription, and nothing to buy. It is rated 13+.
Skip LifeSim if you want to build houses or control a family. LifeSim has no build mode and no mods. It has no Android app and no console version. For those things, stay with The Sims 4 or FreePlay. Read LifeSim vs The Sims or how to play LifeSim to decide.
