How the horse Temperament skill grows
Your horse starts at level 1 and works up to level 10. The game files for this skill do not list exact point totals needed between levels. Because of this, you do not see exact numbers for where the big point jumps happen.
You still progress through each level in order, from level 1 to level 10. Gaining skill points moves your horse from the level before to the next level. Traits and moodlets change the speed of this growth by multiplying the points gained.
Fastest ways to level Temperament with boosts
Specific horse traits multiply your skill gains while they are active. Champion Genes, Mellow, and Well-Mannered Foal each give a 1.25 gain multiplier. The Intelligent trait gives a 1.175 multiplier, and the Prepared for Horse Riding moodlet gives a 1.75 multiplier.
Some traits slow down how fast your horse learns this skill. Defiant and Fearful both give a 0.875 gain multiplier. The Aggressive trait lowers your horse's skill gain the most, with a 0.75 multiplier.
General skill boosts also multiply the points gained, and several multipliers can work together. Snaggle Flustered gives a 4 multiplier to skill points gained. Parental Guidance and Skilling on Up both give a 3 multiplier.
Unlocks at higher levels and the cheat line
Only one interaction in the game files asks for a specific Temperament level. At level 4, your horse unlocks the Graze interaction. The other levels from 1 to 10 do not gate any recipes, interactions, or career promotions.
