Can I bring my Sims 2 family into another game?
Add a .zip of a neighborhood folder, a Sim from SavedSims, or a .sims2pack. LifeSim is not made by Electronic Arts or Maxis and is not connected to The Sims 2. The import only reads what you give it.
How to find your Sims 2 files
- On Windows, open Documents › EA Games › The Sims 2 › Neighborhoods. On a Mac, the Neighborhoods folder is in the folder of The Sims 2 in Application Support.
- Make a .zip of one neighborhood folder, like N001, and add it. LifeSim lists its families, and you choose one.
- This works for the original game and for The Sims 2 Legacy Collection.
- One Sim: add it from the SavedSims folder, or add a .sims2pack file. A single Sim from Create-a-Sim has looks only.
- No files? Take screenshots of your Sims and write a few lines about them. That way always works.
Good to know about The Sims 2
LifeSim reads the names, the bio, the aspiration, the star sign, the personality, the skills, the interests, the career, the family ties, the money, and the portraits.
The personality points become traits. The aspiration becomes a life goal.
A family has up to 8 Sims. You choose the Sim you play, or none of them. The others become the people of your life.
How to add the household in LifeSim
- Press the import button on this page. It opens the LifeSim builder with the import sheet open and the game chosen. In the builder, the same sheet is next to the + in the row of people.
- Add the files of the household, its whole folder, or a .zip of it. The builder opens the files on your device.
- If the files hold more than one household, choose one.
- Choose the member you play, or none of them. LifeSim writes a person for each of the others.
- Check each person, change anything you want, and start your life.
What comes over
- Every member of the family: the first and last name, the age, and the gender
- Who they are to you, from the family ties
- The job, from the career
- The personality, from the personality points, the star sign, and the interests
- A life goal, from the aspiration
- The past: the bio and the skills
- Starting money, from the family funds
- The looks. LifeSim draws a new portrait in its own style, from the portraits that the game saved.
What stays in The Sims 2
- Pets. LifeSim has no pets, so the past of their owner names them instead, for example "Lives with Buddy, a dog."
- Custom traits, careers, and aspirations from mods
- The house, the lot, and the furniture. Your household gets a home in a real city.
- Custom content files, such as hair and clothes. They can show in the portraits that LifeSim reads.
- Other Sims of the town. A full Sims 4 save brings up to 4 close ones along.
Privacy
LifeSim reads the link, the file, or the text to write the people. It stores the screenshots you add on its servers.
LifeSim is rated 13+. Imported people pass the same checks as anything you type in the builder.
What happens in LifeSim
LifeSim is a free life sim. You pick a real city on a 3D map of Earth, and you live there. The people you import live there too. They have homes, jobs, and friends, and their week goes on while you are away.
You talk to them in your own words, and they remember what you said. It plays in the browser at play.lifesim.com, and there is an iPhone app. There are no ads and nothing to buy. Read what LifeSim is.
