What does the Technophobe trait do in The Sims 4?

Technophobe trait

Technophobe is a lifestyle trait from Snowy Escape, for Newborn to Elder Sims. It changes 1 standard moodlet: Need Video Games! becomes Gaming Conquers All (Angry +2). Its strongest own moodlet is Existential Crisis! (Tense +3). Fun need drains ×1.1 as fast. Cheat: traits.equip_trait trait_Lifestyles_Technophobe.

Technophobe is a Lifestyle trait in The Sims 4 that comes with the Snowy Escape pack. It applies to human Sims from the Newborn age up to the Elder age. This trait changes how your Sim reacts to electronics and shifts their daily needs.

Sims with the Technophobe trait cannot have the Techie trait at the same time. The trait makes their Fun need drain faster and adds several Tense, Happy, and Angry moodlets. You can add or remove it right away using the cheat console.

What the Technophobe trait changes in play

The Technophobe trait makes your Sim's Fun need drain ×1.1 as fast as usual. You must refill their Fun bar more often during the day. The game also checks for this trait during the Notice Broken Electronic Object interaction.

This trait comes with 2 timed moodlets that last 4 hours, or 240 Sim minutes. Peace and Quiet gives +1 Happy, while a power moodlet gives +1 Tense. Your Sim can also get an untimed Tense moodlet with a weight of 3 while its cause lasts.

Technophobe also replaces one standard moodlet from the game. When your Sim would normally get a +1 Tense moodlet about needing video games, they get Gaming Conquers All instead. This replacement moodlet gives +2 Angry and has no timer.

Compatibility and how to get the trait

Any human Sim from Newborn to Elder can have the Technophobe trait. However, it conflicts with the Techie trait. A Sim cannot hold both traits at once, and the game lists no interactions that directly grant Technophobe.

You can add or remove the trait in Live mode using the cheat console. Press Ctrl + Shift + C or Cmd + Shift + C to open the cheat box. You do not need to turn on testingcheats true for this cheat.

Type traits.equip_trait trait_Lifestyles_Technophobe to add the trait to your active Sim. Type traits.remove_trait trait_Lifestyles_Technophobe if you want to remove it.
