Is there a California life simulator game?
California life simulator
Yes. LifeSim lets you live in any real city or town in California on a 3D map. You write your character, walk the real streets, and talk to people who remember you. It is free and runs in your browser.
Start a life in CaliforniaLife in California
Daily life in California blends standard office or tech hours with casual dress like jeans, hoodies, and sneakers. People grab coffee or breakfast burritos on the morning commute and eat dinner between 6:30 PM and 8:00 PM. Mild weather means weekends center on youth sports leagues, beach trips, neighborhood park barbecues, and open-air farmers' markets.
Where to live in California
Los Angeles
Car culture, distinct neighborhood strips, coastal boardwalks, and jobs in film and television.
San Francisco Bay Area
Steep hills, coastal fog, BART trains, Mission-style burritos, and global technology campuses.
San Diego
Warm coastal weather all year, surf culture, fish tacos, and a large naval presence.
Sacramento
Tree-lined streets, historic Gold Rush architecture, and jobs in state administration.
The Central Valley
A flat interior basin of farming towns, orchards, ranches, and agricultural processing.
Napa and Sonoma
Rolling hills and valleys north of San Francisco shaped by vineyards, wineries, and hospitality.
Which California city to pick
In Los Angeles, life revolves around distinct neighborhood strips, coastal boardwalks, and the film and television industry. If you want a slower pace near the southern border, pick San Diego for warm weather and surf culture. Orange County gives you suburban neighborhoods and long sandy beaches.
Up north, the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley center on steep hills, coastal fog, and big technology campuses. If you want a life in state government, start in Sacramento among tree-lined streets and Gold Rush buildings. For a life in logistics and commuting, pick Riverside or San Bernardino in the Inland Empire.
A sample life: a Hollywood set carpenter
Maya, 26, moves to an apartment in the San Fernando Valley to work as a set carpenter in Los Angeles. She sets two life goals: meet a film crew and save money. In the morning, she searches the map for a coffee shop and grabs a breakfast burrito.
At noon, a coworker texts her to grab Baja-style fish tacos at a stand near the studio. Maya answers in her own words, and they plan a weekend outing to a beach in Santa Monica. On Saturday, a house party appears on the map in Hollywood, and the day ends with a recap.
Small towns and the California countryside
You do not have to live in a big coastal city. Any named town works on the 3D map of Earth. You can start a life in the Central Valley, a flat basin of farming towns, orchards, and ranches.
North of San Francisco, Napa and Sonoma offer valleys and rolling hills shaped by vineyards, wineries, and hospitality work. Along the Central Coast, you can run a food truck and grill Santa Maria-style tri-tip over red oak wood. Search for a local park or farmers' market on the map and meet your neighbors there.
School and work in California
Public higher education in the state has three tiers. Students attend California Community Colleges, the California State University system, or the University of California research campuses. Well-known private schools include Stanford University, the California Institute of Technology, and the University of Southern California.
Major industries include software technology, entertainment, agriculture, aerospace, port logistics, and healthcare. Most office workers work from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, though tech workers often start earlier for East Coast hours. LifeSim has no salary or promotions, so you write your job or school into your character prompt.
Customs and local words to use
Because traffic changes fast, locals measure distance in minutes or hours instead of miles. People in Southern California say 'the 5' or 'the 101' for freeways, while Northern Californians say 'I-80' or 'Highway 101.' Locals say 'NorCal' and 'SoCal,' and San Franciscans prefer 'SF' or 'The City' over 'Frisco.'
You can use local slang in your chats, since you talk to people in your own words. 'Hella' comes from the Bay Area, while 'stoked' and 'dude' are common across the state. Coastal towns get spring fog called 'May Gray' and 'June Gloom,' which Bay Area residents call 'Karl.'

How it works
- Describe your character in one text box. Name a city or town in California in the text.
- The game reads the place from your text and puts you there, on a 3D map of the real streets.
- Live day by day. Go to real places, meet people, and talk to them in your own words.
Questions
Can I live in any California city in LifeSim?
Yes. Write any city or town into your character text, such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Sacramento. The game puts you on the real 3D map of that place.
Can I drive a car on the California freeways in the game?
No. LifeSim has no vehicles you drive and no driving mini-games. If you want open-world street racing in Southern California, play Midnight Club: Los Angeles or Grand Theft Auto V.
Why do people in Southern California put 'the' before freeway numbers?
In Southern California, locals say 'the 405' or 'the 101' when they talk about freeways. In Northern California, people usually say 'Highway 101' or 'I-80' without the extra word.
Can I go to real beaches, parks, and restaurants on the map?
Yes. You can use place search to find a real taqueria, beach, or park and walk there. Buildings show from the outside only, with no interiors or rooms.
Does the game have a fame meter for Hollywood actors?
No. LifeSim does not have a fame meter, follower counts, or a career ladder. You play out an acting or studio crew life through your daily chats, goals, and outings.
