Can I export a Character.AI character to another game?
Copy the link of a public character and paste it. LifeSim reads the public page. LifeSim is not made by Character.AI and is not connected to it. The import only reads what you give it.
How to get the link in Character.AI
- Find the character on character.ai.
- Copy its share link. It starts with c.ai/c/ and then a short code.
- Or open the character's profile page and copy its link. It starts with character.ai/character/.
- Don't use the link of a chat (character.ai/chat/…). Character.AI often shows those characters only to signed-in players.
- If no link works, copy the description and the greeting, and take screenshots of the profile. That way always works.
Good to know about Character.AI
The character must be public. LifeSim cannot open a private character.
When Character.AI doesn't show a character to LifeSim, the import sheet says so. Then paste the share link or the profile link, or paste the description and the greeting.
LifeSim reads what the public page shows: the name, the description, the greeting, the tags, and the avatar. Its creator can hide the long definition. Then LifeSim works from the rest.
Character.AI can email you an export of your account data, with your chats. You don't need it here. LifeSim does not bring chats over.
How to add the character in LifeSim
- Press Import a character on this page. It opens the LifeSim builder with the import sheet open. In the builder, the same button is next to the + in the row of people.
- Paste the link of the character.
- LifeSim reads the public page and writes the person. Check each field, and change anything you want.
- Add more people if you want, then start your life.
What comes over
- The first and last name
- The age and the gender
- Who they are to you, for example "my roommate" or "my boyfriend"
- A job
- The personality
- The past
- A life goal
- The looks. LifeSim draws a new portrait in its own style, from the avatar or the screenshots.
What stays in Character.AI
- Your chat history, and what the character remembers from your chats
- The voice
- The original picture. LifeSim only uses it to draw a new one.
- Example dialogues
- Lorebooks
- System prompts and instructions to the AI, as such
Up to 6 people come in with one import. A life can start with you and up to 15 other people. You can edit every field after the import.
Content and privacy
LifeSim is rated 13+. Sexual content never comes over. When a character has some, the import leaves it out and tells you. When a character is built around sexual content, the import refuses it, and nothing is added.
Characters under 18 get no romantic or sexual details. Imported people pass the same checks as anything you type in the builder.
LifeSim reads the link, the file, or the text to write the people. It stores the screenshots you add on its servers.
What happens in LifeSim
LifeSim is a free life sim. You pick a real city on a 3D map of Earth, and you live there. The people you import live there too. They have homes, jobs, and friends, and their week goes on while you are away.
You talk to them in your own words, and they remember what you said. It plays in the browser at play.lifesim.com, and there is an iPhone app. There are no ads and nothing to buy. Read what LifeSim is.
