Life in Cebu

Cebu City sits on the eastern coast of Cebu Island, between the Mactan Channel and western mountain ridges. Daily life mixes busy street traffic, big air-conditioned malls, open-air night markets, and nearby mountain viewpoints. A life here can be a tech worker in Lahug or a student near downtown.

Where to live in Cebu

Lahug

Home to Cebu IT Park, high-rise condos, 24-hour cafes, and night markets for tech workers.

Banilad

An upscale corridor with gated villages like Maria Luisa Estate Park, schools, and busy avenues.

Guadalupe

The most populous neighborhood, filled with family homes, mid-rise apartments, and wet markets.

Busay

A cool mountain district above the city with hillside cafes, flower farms, and coastal views.

Ermita

A historic downtown waterfront district that stays busy around the Carbon Public Market.

A day in Cebu in LifeSim

Say you start as a 23-year-old software developer living in a mid-rise apartment in Mabolo. In the morning, you search the 3D map for a café inside Cebu IT Park in Lahug. You walk there and talk to the barista in your own words.

In the afternoon, a friend texts you to plan an outing to Fuente Osmeña Circle. You invite two coworkers, walk to the park together, and chat as a group. Later, a karaoke night appears on the map along General Maxilom Avenue, also called Mango Avenue.

You join the gathering, and the people you meet remember what you say. The day ends with a recap of your moments. Tomorrow, those new friends can text you on their own.

Work and study in Cebu City

Cebu City is the main commercial and tech center outside Metro Manila. Business process outsourcing, information technology, and maritime shipping drive the local economy. Global firms like Accenture, Concentrix, Lexmark International, and JPMorgan Chase employ thousands of people here.

Many residents also work as registered nurses, seafarers, logistics staff, and educators. Major schools include the University of San Carlos, the University of the Philippines Cebu, and the University of Cebu. In LifeSim, you write your job or school into your character prompt, and the people you meet react to it.

A sample life: a new nurse's first month

Carlo, 24, moves into a shared apartment in Sambag near the university belt to work as a nurse. He sets two life goals: make close friends at the hospital and visit the hilltop viewpoints in Busay. During his first week, he searches the map for Larsian near Fuente Osmeña after his shift.

He eats grilled seafood there and talks with a neighbor who works in port logistics. In week two, his neighbor adds him to a group text thread. They plan an outing to Sugbo Mercado, the open-air night food market in Cebu IT Park.

In week three, a birthday drinks event appears on the map at The Terraces at Ayala Center Cebu. Carlo goes, meets a teacher from Guadalupe, and talks about weekend plans. By week four, Carlo's friends remember his hospital schedule and invite him to Tops Cebu in Busay.

Money and the cost of living in Cebu

In real life, living costs vary across the city. Gated hillside villages like Maria Luisa Estate Park in Banilad and Beverly Hills in Lahug are the most expensive. High-rise towers inside Cebu Business Park and Cebu IT Park also have high living costs.

Neighborhoods like Kamputhaw, Capitol Site, and Banawa offer mid-range apartments and townhouses. Dense downtown areas like Parian and San Nicolas, along with southern districts like Pardo and Labangon, are cheaper. There, residents shop at Carbon Market and eat puso and siomai at street stalls.

LifeSim does not charge rent or pay a regular salary. You do not pay bills or mortgages. Instead, your cash changes directly through the activities you do and the chats you have.

  2. The game reads the city from your text and puts you in the real Cebu, on a 3D map.
  3. Live day by day. Go to real places, meet people, and talk to them in your own words.
