Is there a game where you can live in Quito?
Quito life simulator
Yes. LifeSim puts you in the real Quito on a 3D map of the real streets. You describe a character and live in the city day by day. The people you meet have jobs and routines, and they remember your conversations. It is free and runs in your browser.
Start a life in QuitoLife in Quito
Quito sits high in a narrow Andean valley on the slopes of the Pichincha volcano. Residents move between historic colonial plazas and modern glass towers under warm equatorial sun and chilly mountain rain. A life here can be a civil servant in the old town or a student in the eastern valleys.
Where to live in Quito
Centro Histórico
Colonial plazas, gold-leaf churches, street vendors, and cobblestone streets that grow quiet after dark.

High-rise apartments, major banks, shopping malls, and weekend soccer games in Parque La Carolina.
La Floresta
Mid-century homes, street murals, specialty coffee roasters, and an independent art-house cinema.
La Mariscal
Walkable streets around Plaza Foch with hostels, international dining, travel agencies, and late-night bars.
Cumbayá
A lower, warmer eastern valley with gated communities, business parks, outdoor plazas, and a major university.
A sample life: a first month in La Floresta
Mateo, 26, starts a new life as a barista living in La Floresta. He sets two life goals: make close friends and visit every historic church in the city. On his first Monday, he searches the map for a specialty coffee roaster on Isabel La Católica street. He chats with a neighbor in his own words, and she remembers his name the next day.
In week two, a coworker starts a group text thread and invites Mateo to an evening outing. They pick Parque de las Tripas on the map, walk there together, and talk as a group. Later that week, a pickup soccer game appears as a happening in Parque La Carolina. Mateo joins the game, and each day ends with a recap of his moments.
Getting around Quito and the 3D map
Quito stretches north to south in a long, narrow Andean valley. In the real city, commuters use the underground Metro de Quito from Quitumbe to El Labrador. Many people also ride dedicated bus lines like El Trole and the Ecovía. Drivers face heavy traffic on Avenida Amazonas and weekday license-plate rules called Pico y Placa.
Every Sunday, the city closes a long corridor to cars for the Ciclopaseo bike event. In LifeSim, you do not ride subways or drive cars. You move around on a 3D map of Earth with real streets. You search for a station, a park, or a workplace by name and go there.
Equatorial seasons and mountain weather
Quito sits high on the eastern slopes of the Pichincha volcano, right near the equator. Because of this location, the city does not have four traditional seasons. Daytime temperatures stay mild and spring-like all year, while the nights drop to a crisp chill. Locals say achachay when the mountain air feels freezing cold, and arrarray when the equatorial sun feels burning hot.
The drier, sunnier season runs from June through September, which residents call verano. The wetter season, called invierno, runs from October through May with clear mornings and afternoon rain showers. The 3D map in LifeSim shows real weather, so your character walks through sunny mornings and rainy afternoons.
Famous Quito places to search on the map
You can use the place search tool to visit famous spots across the capital. In the Centro Histórico, search for Plaza Grande, the Iglesia de la Compañía de Jesús, or the Basílica del Voto Nacional. You can plan an outing with friends to El Panecillo, the steep volcanic hill between north and south Quito. Buildings show from the outside on the 3D map, with no interior rooms.
In the northern districts, you can go to Parque La Carolina to meet people near the botanical garden. Art fans can search for the Capilla del Hombre in Bellavista. You can also visit the TelefériQo on the slope of Pichincha or travel north to Ciudad Mitad del Mundo.
Food, markets, and going out in Quito
Food in Quito centers on traditional Andean dishes and neighborhood markets. Residents eat locro de papa, a creamy potato soup with cheese and avocado, and slow-roasted pork called hornado. At Mercado Central or Mercado Iñaquito, shoppers call the vendor caserita and often receive a free extra portion called a yapa. You can search for these markets on the map and meet merchants there.
At night, happenings like birthday drinks, karaoke, or house parties appear on the map. You can go to Calle La Ronda in the Old Town, where locals drink hot spiced canelazo. For late-night bars, search for Plaza Foch in La Mariscal or upscale lounges along Avenida González Suárez.
