Is there a game where you can live a life in Romania?
Romania life simulator
Yes. LifeSim puts you in the real Romania on a 3D map of real streets. You make a character, talk to neighbors in your own words, and live day by day. It is free and runs in the browser with no download.

Daily life in Romania connects city work with multi-generational family ties in home villages. Office workers commute by tram, bus, or the Bucharest metro, eat a midday lunch with sour soup, and eat dinner late. On weekends and Orthodox holidays, many city residents travel back to their family villages and bring home jars of homemade food.

Which city or region to pick in Romania
Your choice of city shapes your daily routine on the map. Bucharest gives you wide Belle Époque boulevards, dense apartment blocks called blocuri, and open-air café terraces. Cluj-Napoca centers on student cafés, software offices, and arts festivals in Transylvania.
If you prefer historic squares and mountain air, pick Brașov or Sibiu. Sibiu has pedestrian cobbled squares and steep roofs with attic windows shaped like eyes. For coastal breezes, start in the Black Sea port of Constanța, or pick rural Maramureș for wooden gates and village traditions.
A first week in Timișoara in LifeSim
Radu, 22, starts life as an apprentice baker at a street-corner bakery, or covrigărie, near a tram stop in Timișoara. In the morning, he walks to the bakery on the 3D map and chats with factory workers buying hot pretzels called covrigi. Each person remembers what Radu says and keeps a journal of past events.
On Wednesday, a neighbor texts Radu to invite him for afternoon coffee in a walkable public square. On Saturday, a birthday drinks happening appears on the map, and Radu joins a group thread to plan the night. Each day ends with a recap of its moments, and Radu's cash and relationships change with his chats.
School and work in a Romanian life
In Romania, students move from primary school and middle school to high school, called liceu, from grades nine to twelve. Grades five through twelve and universities use a 1 to 10 numerical scale, where 5 is the minimum passing grade. Universities follow the Bologna system, taking three years for most bachelor's degrees and six years for medicine.
Common industries include software outsourcing, automotive manufacturing at Dacia and Ford plants, agriculture, and retail. Standard office hours run Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 6:00 PM, while factory shifts start earlier. LifeSim has no salary, promotions, or skill bars, so you write your job or school year into your character text.
Food, customs, and going out
Midday lunch is traditionally a two-course meal starting with a sour soup called ciorbă, followed by a hot main dish. People eat sarmale, which are stuffed cabbage rolls with cornmeal polenta called mămăligă, and grilled minced meat rolls called mici. For dessert, locals order papanași, which are cheese doughnuts topped with sour cream and berry jam.
You can use place search to find a local restaurant, an open-air market called a piață, or a summer terrace. When you visit friends in the game, you can greet them with Bună ziua and say Poftă bună before a meal. If you bring flowers to a host, local custom says to bring an odd number, because even numbers are for funerals.

How it works
- Describe your character in one text box. Name a city or town in Romania in the text.
- The game reads the place from your text and puts you there, on a 3D map of the real streets.
- Live day by day. Go to real places, meet people, and talk to them in your own words.
Questions
Can I play in any Romanian city or village?
Yes. You can write Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, or a small village in Maramureș in your character text. The game reads the place name and puts you on the real 3D map.
Does the game have Romanian language support?
No. LifeSim is in English only. People talk to you in English, while streets and places keep their real Romanian names.
Can I drive a car or a truck across the Carpathian Mountains?
No. LifeSim has no vehicles you drive and no driving mini-games. If you want to drive freight trucks through Romanian cities and mountain passes, play Euro Truck Simulator 2: Road to the Black Sea.
Can I enter apartment buildings or furnish a flat?
No. Buildings show from the outside only, with no interiors, rooms, or furniture. On desktop, you can use Build mode to draw a new building and place its 3D model on the map.
What is the Bacalaureat exam in Romania?
The Bacalaureat, or Bac, is the national exam that students take at the end of twelfth grade to qualify for university. You can write a high school senior preparing for the Bac into your character story.
