Life in Argentina

Life in Argentina runs on a late schedule, with afternoon mate breaks and dinner after 9:00 PM. People greet friends with a kiss on the cheek, ride colectivos, and gather for Sunday family asado. In LifeSim, you can live in a busy capital apartment or a quiet mountain town.

Daily life, work, and meals in Argentina

Life in Argentina runs on a late clock. In big cities, offices and shops open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM or 8:00 PM. In many provincial towns, businesses close from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM for an afternoon siesta.

People eat four meals a day. Breakfast is light, and lunch at 1:00 PM is a hot meal. Around 5:00 PM, everyone stops for la merienda to drink mate or coffee with sweet pastries called facturas. Dinner rarely starts before 9:00 PM on weeknights.

Sunday is for family. Relatives gather for a long midday pasta lunch or an asado on a brick parrilla in the backyard pavilion, called a quincho. Summer holidays peak in January and February, while winter holidays like May 25 and July 9 feature parades and folk music.

A sample life: the bodegón in Buenos Aires

Mateo, 28, returns to Buenos Aires to run his grandparents' neighborhood restaurant, a bodegón. He writes this into his character text and sets a goal to keep the classic menu alive. He also edits his grandparents in the cast menu.

In his first week, Mateo walks the 3D map to a nearby panadería for morning medialunas. Regular customers text him about the dinner menu, and he answers in his own words. There are no cooking mini-games, so the story happens through his conversations.

On Saturday night, a birthday drinks happening appears on the map at a café. Mateo plans an outing there with two kitchen coworkers. Each day ends with a recap, and his friends remember what he said.

Food, asado, and going out

Beef and Italian dishes shape everyday meals. People eat asado at home or at steakhouses called parrillas, and buy choripán with chimichurri at parks. Neighborhood bodegones serve big plates of pasta and milanesa a la napolitana.

For quick meals, locals buy empanadas by the dozen or thick-crust pizza with fainá chickpea flatbread. On the 29th of each month, it is a custom to eat gnocchi, called ñoquis del 29, for good luck. In LifeSim, you search for real restaurants, bakeries, or late-night heladerías on the map and walk there.

Small towns, the Pampas, and the Andes

You do not have to live in the capital. Any named town in Argentina works on the LifeSim map. In the real world, people travel between provinces on long-distance double-decker buses called micros de larga distancia.

You can start a life on a cattle ranch in the Pampas or in a red-rock valley town in Salta. You can also play an agronomy graduate managing irrigation channels, called acequias, in a small Mendoza town. Search for a local plaza or kiosco on the map, meet the neighbors, and build a routine.

How it works

  1. Describe your character in one text box. Name a city or town in Argentina in the text.
  2. The game reads the place from your text and puts you there, on a 3D map of the real streets.
  3. Live day by day. Go to real places, meet people, and talk to them in your own words.
