How long does the Hungry moodlet last in The Sims 4?

Hungry moodlet

Hungry is a moodlet with 2 versions; the strongest is Uncomfortable +1. It has no timer: it lasts while its cause lasts. A Sim gets it while the Hunger need is between -75 and -50 (the bar runs from -100 to 100). Remove it with sims.remove_buff Buff_Motives_Hunger_Hungry after testingcheats true.

The Sims 4 base game includes 2 versions of the Hungry moodlet. One version makes your Sim feel Uncomfortable, and the other makes them feel Sad. Both versions have a weight of 1 and have no timer.

These moodlets also slow down how fast your Sim's Hunger need drops. Certain ages and traits replace the Uncomfortable version with a different moodlet. You can remove the Hungry moodlet by fixing its cause or by using a cheat.

Hungry comes from the Hunger need: a Sim has it while Hunger sits between -75 and -50, on a bar that runs from -100 to 100. Hunger drains 0.21 points per Sim minute with no other effect on it, so a full bar empties in about 16 hours.

What gives the Hungry moodlet and its length

Your Sim gets the Uncomfortable Hungry moodlet when their Hunger need sits between -50 and -75. In the game, needs run on a scale from -100 when empty to 100 when full. Normally, the Hunger need drains by 0.2083 per Sim minute.

Neither version of the Hungry moodlet has a timer. Instead, the moodlet stays on your Sim while its cause lasts. While active, the Uncomfortable version multiplies Hunger drain and drops by 0.083333, and the Sad version multiplies them by 0.4.

How to remove or replace the Hungry moodlet

Because the Uncomfortable version depends on the Hunger need band, moving Hunger outside -75 to -50 removes it. Some Sims also get a replacement moodlet instead of the Uncomfortable Hungry moodlet. For example, Infants get a Sad Food Time? moodlet, and Toddlers get an Angry Hangry moodlet.

Sims with the Glutton trait get the Uncomfortable Famished moodlet with a weight of 2 instead. Sims with the Hungry Like The Wolf trait get Beastly Hunger with a weight of 0. You can also remove the moodlet with a cheat in Live mode.

Press Ctrl + Shift + C on PC or Cmd + Shift + C on Mac to open the console. Type testingcheats true first, then enter sims.remove_buff Buff_Motives_Hunger_Hungry to clear that version from your active Sim.
