A city carrier with a pushcart in ManhattanHow to play a mail carrier in LifeSim
- Describe your mail carrier in the text box with a name, age, and story.
- Include a real city in your text, and the game places you on that 3D map.
- Use place search to find a real post office, café, or park to visit on your route.
- Talk to neighbors and coworkers in your own words, and track your route on your to-do list.
Bad weather, sore feet, and route pressure
Real mail carriers deal with heavy satchels, sore feet, and strict sorting times at the depot. They walk miles in freezing snow, pouring rain, and summer heat. They also face barking dogs, icy steps, and trays of missorted mail.
In LifeSim, you play these hard parts through your conversations and daily goals. You can complain to a coworker about a rival carrier or a supervisor pushing strict office times. If you argue with a neighbor over an unrestrained dog, that neighbor remembers what you said.
Prompts that work for a mail carrier life
Write your name, age, job, and city in the character box to start. Try "Marcus, 29, a USPS city carrier in New York who pushes a relay cart in Midtown." You can also write "Arthur, 52, a Royal Mail postperson in London working out of Mount Pleasant Mail Centre."
Add a personal detail to shape your first week. Write "Clara, 24, a rookie Canada Post delivery agent in Toronto who wants to befriend her neighbors." You can also edit the people in your cast, such as your depot supervisor or your partner.
How to play a postal career in LifeSim
LifeSim does not have a career ladder, promotions, or a job performance score. You do not take a test to get hired. Instead, you write your starting role into your character prompt and build the story through your daily routine.
You use your to-do list and calendar to run your shift. Add tasks like "check on the elderly regular on Oak Street" or "return undeliverable parcels to the depot." After work, you can answer group texts, go to happenings on the map, or plan outings with friends.
A sample life: walking a route in Detroit
Devon, 34, starts his life in Detroit as a mail carrier near the Detroit River. He sets a daily to-do item to walk his park-and-loop blocks before noon. Using place search, he walks to a real post office and chats with his supervisor outside.
On Tuesday, Devon notices a neighbor on his route who looks unwell. He talks to her in his own words and offers to help. On Friday night, a coworker invites Devon in a group text to a birthday drinks happening across town.

Questions
Can I drive a mail truck or sort letters in a mini-game?
No. LifeSim has no vehicles to drive and no sorting mini-games. You play the social and daily life of a mail carrier on a real map.
Can I walk inside the post office or apartment buildings?
No. Buildings on the 3D map show from the outside only. You can walk to a real post office or apartment block and talk to people outside.
What do real mail carriers do before they go on their route?
Carriers start early at a sorting office and sort loose letters and flats at a tall desk called a case. They bundle the mail, load trays and parcels into their vehicle, and head out to the street.
How do people become mail carriers in the real world?
In the US, applicants take a Virtual Entry Assessment, pass a driving check, and attend the USPS Carrier Academy. In the UK, Royal Mail recruits pass a sorting test and shadow a workplace coach.
Is LifeSim free to play?
