What is the age rating of inZOI?
The ESRB rates inZOI as T for Teen. The ESRB is the rating board of the United States and Canada. Its page lists three content descriptors: Comic Mischief, Mild Suggestive Themes, and Mild Violence. It also lists one interactive element: Users Interact.
A parent usually asks one more question: is the game safe for my child? A rating does not answer that question alone. This post shows what the ESRB says is in the game, what the Steam page says, and one problem that players found in 2025.
You are on the LifeSim blog. We make a life sim too, so we show our own age rule at the end.
What does the ESRB say is in inZOI?
The ESRB summary describes a life sim. The player controls characters that the game calls Zois. The ESRB page lists these events:
- Some prompts lead to fights between Zois.
- A Zoi can die from causes such as starvation or fire.
- A player can start romance. One prompt leads to a scene with a heart icon.
- A Zoi can use the toilet. The game blurs the picture.
- A prompt lets a Zoi pass gas.
The ESRB page lists two platforms: Windows PC and Macintosh. It lists no console. The studio plans a PlayStation 5 version, but that version has no rating page that we found. Read the inZOI PS5 post for the plan.
What do the content descriptors mean?
A descriptor names one kind of content. It does not tell you how often the content appears. The three descriptors of inZOI are short.
Comic Mischief
The ESRB uses this descriptor for humor in the game. The ESRB summary also names the toilet scene and the gas prompt. The ESRB does not say which descriptor covers which scene.
Mild Suggestive Themes
The game has romance. The word “mild” means that the scenes are not explicit. The ESRB names a heart icon scene as an example.
Mild Violence
Zois can fight. Zois can also die. The ESRB names starvation and fire. The word “mild” is the ESRB word, not ours.
Users Interact
This is not a content descriptor. It is an interactive element. It says that players can talk or share with other players. In inZOI, the sharing tool is Canvas. The Steam page calls it an in-game sharing platform. Other players make the content that you see there. Read what Canvastown is for the next step of that tool.
What does the Steam page say about the age of players?
The Steam page of inZOI lists no age rating in its Ratings section. We opened the page on October 11, 2026. It shows player tags instead. Three of the tags are “Family Friendly,” “Romance,” and “Sexual Content.” A tag comes from players. A tag is not an official rating.
Do not use the tags as a rule. Two of the three tags point in opposite directions. Use the ESRB page for the official rating.
The Steam page also lists a minimum need for a broadband internet connection. It lists the game as single-player. It does not list multiplayer. For the details, read does inZOI have multiplayer?
Is there a PEGI rating for inZOI?
We could not confirm one. PEGI is the rating system of Europe. We did not open a PEGI page for inZOI. Some websites list a PEGI number, and the numbers differ from site to site. We do not repeat a number that we could not verify.
If you live in Europe, search the PEGI website for the game name. Do the search on the day that you buy the game. The game is in Early Access, and a rating can change when the game changes.
What happened with the children in the road?
In March 2025, players of inZOI found a problem. IGN reported that a player could drive a car into pedestrians, including children. The pedestrians then fell with ragdoll physics. A Reddit player said that they did this at an elementary school.
IGN noted that this kind of play would usually earn a rating of M, or PEGI 18. The ESRB listing mentioned traffic accidents. It did not mention running over people.
Krafton, the publisher, answered IGN. A representative said that an unintended bug caused the problem, and that the latest patch fixed it. The representative also said: “These depictions are highly inappropriate and do not reflect the intent and values of inZOI.” Krafton said it was strengthening its internal review process.
We read the report. We did not test the game for this fix. The report is from 2025, so check the newest patch notes before you decide. The point for a parent is simple: a rating describes the game that the board saw. A later patch can change the game.
How do you check the rating yourself?
A rating can change. Use these steps on the day that you buy or let a child play.
- Open the ESRB page of inZOI. Read the rating, the content descriptors, and the interactive elements.
- Read the ESRB summary. It lists the events in plain words.
- Open the Steam page. Read the tags, but do not treat the tags as a rating.
- Search for the newest patch notes of the game. A patch can add or remove a scene.
- Watch the first hour of play with your child. Look at Canvas, the sharing tool, because other players make that content.
Step five is our advice, and not a rule from the ESRB. No page can show you each scene that a player will meet.

Where does LifeSim fit?
LifeSim has no ESRB rating. Our Terms set a minimum age of 13. A player under 18 needs permission from a parent or guardian. In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, a player under 16 must not sign up. Read the Terms for the exact text.
A rating does not fit LifeSim well in one respect. The characters answer in their own words, so we cannot list each event in advance. A parent who wants a fixed list of scenes should choose a game with a rating board listing. Learn how the game works in how to play.
Questions
Is inZOI for kids?
The ESRB rating is Teen. That means the board thinks the game fits players aged 13 and older. Use the content descriptors above to decide for your child.
Can a 13-year-old play inZOI?
Yes, under the ESRB rating. Read the descriptors first. Check the Canvas sharing tool, because other players make that content.
Does inZOI have parental controls?
We found no statement about parental controls on the Steam page or on the ESRB page. Steam has its own family tools. Check Steam for them.
Is inZOI more mature than The Sims 4?
Both games have the ESRB rating Teen. The descriptors differ. The Sims 4 lists Crude Humor, Sexual Themes, and Violence. inZOI lists Comic Mischief, Mild Suggestive Themes, and Mild Violence.
