Is inZOI free?
No. inZOI is a paid game. The Steam page lists a price of $39.99 for the Early Access version. There is no free base game, as there is for The Sims 4.
We opened the Steam page on October 2, 2026. On that day, it showed a 20% discount. The discounted price was $31.99, and the discount ended on October 8. A discount changes the price for a short time. It does not make the game free.
This post answers the questions that players ask before they buy: what the price includes, whether you pay for more content later, and which life sims cost nothing. You read this on the LifeSim blog. LifeSim is free, and we say where it does not replace inZOI.
Does inZOI have paid DLC?
Not during Early Access. Krafton said that the game would get free content until the full release. The first big free addition was Kucingku, a Bali-inspired island town. Wikipedia also lists Kucingku as a free addition.
Game Rant reported the plan in 2025. The article lists free updates after launch. It names swimming and pools, a parenting system, family trees, and more Build Mode tools. These were plans when Game Rant wrote the article. Check the current game for what is in it today.
The free-content promise has a limit. It covers the Early Access period. Game Rant wrote that it is unclear whether the price changes after the full release. We found no statement of the price of the full game. We also found no statement about paid DLC after 1.0.
Will the price go up when Early Access ends?
Nobody outside the studio knows. The Steam page says the developers plan to stay in Early Access for at least a year. It says that the plan can change with player feedback.
Paralives, a rival, says that its price will rise when it leaves Early Access. That is a statement of the Paralives studio. It is not a statement about inZOI. Do not move one studio's plan to the other studio's game.
A buyer who wants to lower the risk has one choice. Buy when the price and the game both look good to you today. Do not buy for a price that you expect in the future.
What do you get for the price?
The Steam page lists the main features. It lists a character creator with more than 250 options, city building, and relationship simulation. It also lists AI-assisted tools for content creation and a sharing platform named Canvas.
The game supports 15 languages, including English, Korean, French, German, Spanish, and Japanese. The content rating is ESRB T, for teens.
Wikipedia reports that Canvas had more than 1.2 million players on launch day, who uploaded more than 470,000 pieces of content. It also reports that official mod support began in May 2025. This means that a large part of the content comes from players, at no cost.

Is there a free version or a demo?
We found no free version and no demo on the Steam page. Steam can change what it shows. Look at the page for a demo button before you buy.
Steam also has a refund process. Read the Steam refund rules before you buy any Early Access game. We did not verify them for this post, so we do not quote a time limit.
Is the price worth it?
The Steam reviews say that most players think so. The page showed 79% positive reviews from 14,436 players. The reviews of the last 30 days were 84% positive from 643 players.
The critics are less sure. Wikipedia reports that reviewers praised the visuals and the character creator. It also reports that some reviewers found the game thin, with few meaningful interactions between characters. Wikipedia reports over one million copies sold in the first week.
Many players buy a game and play it for a few hours. Decide before you buy how much time you will give it. A cheap game that you never open costs more than a dear game that you play for a year.
Compare the price with your own use. A player who plays one hour a week pays more for each hour than a player who plays every day. Think about the hours that you expect, not only the price on the page.
A game in Early Access is not finished. A buyer pays for the game as it is, plus a plan. Read the recent reviews on the Steam page. They describe the game after the latest patches.
What does your computer need?
A game that you cannot run has a high price. Check the requirements on the Steam page first. They list these values:
- Windows, minimum: a graphics card of the RTX 2060 class and 12 GB of RAM.
- Windows, recommended: a graphics card of the RTX 3070 class and 16 GB of RAM.
- Mac, minimum: an Apple M1 chip and 16 GB of RAM.
- Storage: 40 to 60 GB.

Which life sims and cozy games are free?
The Sims 4
The base game is free to play. The EA page lists the EA app, Steam, the Epic Games Store, the PlayStation Store, and the Xbox Store. Steam lists the base game as free and lists packs and kits from $3.99 to $39.99. Steam also says that the game needs an EA account and an internet connection. Palia
Palia is a free-to-play cozy life sim on PC. Its Steam page lists optional DLC packs and cosmetic purchases. It has online co-op and cross-platform play.
Stardew Valley
Stardew Valley is not free. Its Steam page showed $10.49 on October 2, 2026, with a 30% discount from $14.99. It is a farming game with relationships, and it is much cheaper than inZOI.
BitLife
BitLife is free on phones, with ads and in-app purchases. We covered it in is BitLife free?
LifeSim
LifeSim is free, runs in a browser, and has no in-app purchases. You live one life in a city on the real map of Earth, and you talk to the people there.
LifeSim does not give you what inZOI gives you. It has no character creator with 250 options, and it does not build houses. Choose inZOI for 3D looks and building. Choose LifeSim to try a life sim for nothing.
