What is inZOI Island Getaway?

Island Getaway is a free add-on that adds the city of Cahaya. See what it adds, what it leaves out, and the system needs.

Island Getaway is a free add-on for inZOI. It adds a new city named Cahaya. The city has three islands. The Steam page lists the add-on as free, and it needs the base game.

Steam shows August 19, 2025 as the release date. Some websites say August 20. We use the Steam date.

You are on the LifeSim blog. We make a different game, so this post only reports what the pages say about inZOI.

Yes. The Steam page of the add-on shows the price as free. The Steam page of the base game lists the add-on in its DLC section with the same label, free. Sims Community also calls it a free DLC for all players who have the Early Access build.

One source disagrees. The Sims Tree calls Island Getaway the only paid expansion so far. The Steam page lists it as free, so we follow Steam. If a price shows in your store, trust your store.

The base game still costs money. We opened the base page on October 11, 2026. It showed a price of $39.99 for the Early Access version. Read is inZOI free? for the full price story.

The Steam page describes the new city of Cahaya. The city has three islands.

The main island

You can farm, gather, and fish here. Steam lists crops, minerals, and gemstones. You can sell the resources, craft items, or deliver them to the Corner Store. Steam also says that the weather can change suddenly.

The resort island

This island is for leisure. Steam lists swimming, snorkeling, a massage zone with sauna sessions, and a nearby temple. The page also lists underwater reefs.

The deserted island

A third island lies between the other two. Steam calls it mysterious and deserted. Sims Community says that you can explore the uninhabited islands.

Resort events

You earn Resort Coins and use them for rewards. Steam lists events on weekdays: arcade games, lucky draws, treasure hunts, Turtlebot races, and pool parties.

Yes, you can live there. Steam says that you can start a new family in the city or move a family there. Sims Community says that a Zoi can take a short trip, take a long sabbatical, or live on the islands.

Jobs and schools are not in Cahaya. Sims Community says that the design excludes them, and that players are meant to be self-sufficient through farming or fishing. That is a design choice from the preview article. Check the game today to see if it still holds.

Sims Community says that the third world of inZOI was formerly named Kucingku and is now named Cahaya. Other pages, including fan wikis, give a different order for the names. We could not find one source that settles the order.

The practical answer: search for both names. Players and websites use both. If you read an older post that says Kucingku, it most likely means the same island city.

Sims Community wrote about the update in July 2025, before the release. The article names the update the Cahaya Update and ties it to the Island Getaway add-on. It lists a livestream, inZOI@Cahaya, on August 15, 2025 at 1:00 AM UTC, on the official YouTube and Twitch channels. The studio planned to reveal the add-on there.

The preview also lists these items.

  • A tropical island setting, inspired by Indonesian tourist spots.
  • Cultural hot spots that are inspired by real civilizations.
  • A sailboat on the open sea, shown in the concept trailer.
  • More natural emotional expressions, an improved relationship system, and deeper interactions.
  • A Mac port of inZOI through Steam and the Mac App Store. The article gives no date for it.

A preview is a plan. The Steam page of the add-on is the better list of what shipped. Use the preview only to learn what the studio wanted to show.

The Steam page says that the add-on is free to download and that it needs the base game. Own the base game first. Then open the Steam page of the add-on and add it to your library.

The page does not say if the add-on is on another store. The Mac App Store listing of inZOI is outside what we opened. Check that store if you play on a Mac without Steam.

The Steam page of the add-on lists its own system requirements.

PartWindows minimummacOS minimum

The Windows page also lists DirectX 12 and a broadband internet connection. The recommended Windows setup is an Intel i7-12700K or AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 16 GB of memory, an RTX 3070 or RX 6800 XT, and 60 GB of storage. The recommended Mac setup is an Apple M3 with 16 GB of memory and 45 GB of storage.

For the base game and for other computers, read inZOI system requirements.

The Sims Tree reports on an interview with the game director, Hyungjun “Kjun” Kim. The article says that no other paid expansions are planned for the near future, and that the director does not want to repeat the expansion-heavy model of The Sims 4.

The same article says that the full 1.0 launch is planned for early 2027, with a PlayStation 5 version that is likely to launch at the same time. It lists these goals for 2026: careers, school, karma, prisons, vehicles, and stable performance.

Plans change. The Steam page says that the roadmap may change. Read the inZOI PS5 post and the Canvastown post for more on those plans.

It costs nothing, so the cost is your storage and your time. Use this rule:

  • You like farming, fishing, and slow play: install it.
  • You want jobs, school, and a busy city: skip it. Cahaya has neither.
  • Your computer sits near the minimum specification: check the requirements table first.

If the island fits you but you want other games in the genre, read games like inZOI.

LifeSim has no islands that you install. You pick a real city on Earth and live there. The people around you work, travel, and talk with you in open text. Read how to play.

LifeSim does not have a farm or a resort. If you want a 3D island and building tools, inZOI is the better choice. LifeSim is free in the browser, and it does not need an install.

Do I need to buy Island Getaway?

No. Steam lists it as free. It needs the base game.

Is Island Getaway on Mac?

The Steam page of the add-on lists macOS requirements, so the add-on is listed for Mac.

How many islands does Cahaya have?

Three: a main island, a resort island, and a deserted island between them.

Can I use Island Getaway with mods?

We found no statement on this. Read inZOI mods for what we know, and inZOI cheats for the console.
