Sims 4 building cheats

Press Ctrl + Shift + C to open the cheat box. Then type a code from the table and press Enter. All of these codes come with the base game, so you do not need a pack. EA says that build mode cheats do not turn off achievements.

You do not need testingcheats true for any code in this table. The Sims Wiki lists the bb codes as cheats that work without it.

A box opens at the top of the screen. Type the code and press Enter. Press Esc to close it, or press the four shoulder buttons again on a controller.

On a console, EA lists the move code as bb.moveobjects with no word after it. If on does not work there, use the short form.

With bb.moveobjects on, the game stops checking where an object goes. You can let objects overlap, put two items on one tile, or hang a shelf higher on a wall. Pick up an object and use 9 and 0 to raise or lower it. The Sims Wiki says to hold Ctrl with these keys.

Two more keys work with no cheat at all. Hold Alt (Option on a Mac) to place an object off the grid. Press F5 to place most objects on a quarter tile.

Sims cannot always use objects that overlap. Test each sink, bed, and door in live mode. Our move objects cheat guide has more detail.

Go to build mode. Sims Community gives this order:

1. bb.moveobjects on
2. bb.showhiddenobjects
3. bb.showliveeditobjects

Then type debug in the search bar of the catalog. The hidden objects appear. Many have no color options, and Sims can walk through some of them.

To hide these items again, add false to the code. For example, type bb.showhiddenobjects false. The Sims Wiki says this works for the hidden object codes and for the career reward code. Read our Sims 4 debug cheat guide for a full walk through.

Free homes. Go to the world map, not to a lot. Type FreeRealEstate on. Every empty residential lot now costs nothing. EA says that you must type it on the world or neighborhood screen. Our free real estate cheat guide covers the details.

Locked lots. Type bb.enablefreebuild. EA lists it in its console section, and PC guides such as Dexerto list it too. It opens build mode on lots that are normally locked. Examples are the hospital, the police station, and university dorms. Dexerto warns you not to remove objects that a lot needs to work.

The pack that adds a lot must be installed for you to visit it. For example, dorms come with Discover University. See Sims 4 expansion packs for what each pack adds.

Select an object in build mode. Press Shift + ] to make it bigger and Shift + [ to make it smaller. On a console, EA says to hold L2 + R2 (PlayStation) or LT + RT (Xbox) and press up or down on the D-pad.

The Sims Wiki says that this now works with no cheat. Older guides say it needs bb.moveobjects on, so turn that on if the size does not change. Some objects must be moved before they show the new size.

Beds, showers, sinks, and toilets still work after you resize them. Windows, doors, and mirrors only resize in part.

• A typo. The bb codes have a dot after bb, not a space.
• The wrong screen. FreeRealEstate works on the world map, not inside a lot.
• The wrong form on a console. Try bb.moveobjects with no word after it.
• The keys do nothing. Pick up or select the object first. Then press the keys.
• A mod. A mod that changes build mode can block a code. Read our guide to Sims 4 mods to remove one safely.

Save the game before you use bb.enablefreebuild on a public lot. Then you can go back if a change breaks the lot.
