The Sims 4 move objects cheat

How to use bb.moveobjects in The Sims 4: turn it on and off, the keys to raise, rotate, and resize objects, related build cheats, and fixes.

What is the move objects cheat in The Sims 4?

Open the cheat box with Ctrl + Shift + C. Type bb.moveobjects on and press Enter. Now you can place objects where the game usually says no. Type bb.moveobjects off to turn the limits back on.

The cheat comes with the base game. You do not need a pack. EA says that build mode cheats do not turn off achievements.

How do you open the cheat box on PC, Mac, PlayStation, and Xbox?

A white box opens at the top of the screen. Type the code and press Enter. Press Esc to close the box. On a controller, press the four shoulder buttons again.

On a console, EA lists the code as bb.moveobjects with no word after it. If on does not work there, use the short form.

What can you do with bb.moveobjects on?

The game stops checking where an object goes. Some things that you can do:

  • Put two objects on the same tile, or let them overlap.
  • Put a plant inside a shelf, or a lamp very close to a wall.
  • Raise an object into the air, for example a picture or a shelf.
  • Mix parts of objects to make new furniture.

There is a cost. GameRevolution warns that Sims often cannot use objects that overlap. A Sim can fail to reach a sink or a bed. Test each object in live mode before you finish a room.

Which keys nudge, raise, rotate, and resize objects?

Pick up the object first. Then use these keys on a PC or a Mac.

Raising needs bb.moveobjects on. The Sims Wiki says that resizing now works without a cheat. Older guides say it needs the cheat, so turn the cheat on if the size does not change.

On a console, EA says to hold L2 + R2 (PlayStation) or LT + RT (Xbox). Then press up or down on the D-pad to resize the object.

How do you use the hidden object cheats?

Type these in build mode. Sims Community gives this order:

  1. bb.moveobjects on
  2. bb.showhiddenobjects
  3. bb.showliveeditobjects

Then type debug in the search bar of the catalog. The hidden objects appear. Many have no swatches, and Sims can walk through some of them. Sims Community says to avoid the debug food items, because they often break.

The Sims Wiki says that you can turn off these cheats with the word false. For example, type bb.showhiddenobjects false.

bb.ignoregameplayunlocksentitlement unlocks career rewards, so you do not need to earn them first. EA lists bb.enablefreebuild only in its console section. Use it to edit lots that the game locks.

Why does the move objects cheat not work?

Check these causes, in this order.

  • A typo. The code has a dot between bb and moveobjects. It has a space before on.
  • The wrong form on a console. Try bb.moveobjects with no word after it.
  • The cheat is off again. Type the code again. GameRevolution says that the same code also switches the cheat back, so watch the message in the box.
  • 9 and 0 do nothing. Pick up the object first. Then try with Ctrl (Command on a Mac) held down.
  • The object will not go where you want. Hold Alt as you place it, to leave the grid.

You do not need testingcheats true for the build cheats. The Sims Wiki lists them as cheats that work without it. On a console, EA says that cheats which need testingcheats true turn off achievements in that save. So skip it there.

Is LifeSim a game where you build?

No. LifeSim is a free life sim in your browser set on a real map of Earth, where people talk back in your own words. It has no build mode, so it is not a match if you want to place furniture.
