We took the date, the world, the item counts, and the needs from the EA page. We opened it on October 14, 2026. The price is from Steam on the same day. The other facts are from The Sims Wiki.

You buy farm animals for your home lot. Chickens live in a coop, and cows and llamas live in an animal shed. Each one gives you something.

  • Chickens lay eggs. You can also hatch eggs to get more chickens.
  • Cows give milk. Feed a cow certain items, and the milk gets a flavor.
  • Llamas give wool. Sims use the wool for crafts and for cross-stitch.

Rabbits, birds, and foxes live in the wild. If your Sim makes friends with a rabbit or a bird, it brings gifts and helps in the garden. Foxes are the problem. They try to steal eggs from the coop.

Animals have a relationship with your Sim, like other Sims do. Talk to them and feed them. The Country Caretaker aspiration asks you to reach the top relationship with a cow, a chicken, or a llama.

Simple Living changes how your Sims cook. Every recipe needs real ingredients in the inventory. Your Sim cannot cook a meal from nothing.

In return, cooking costs less, and the EA description says the food is of higher quality. Get the ingredients in four ways:

  1. Grow them in a garden or a crop field.
  2. Collect eggs and milk from your animals.
  3. Forage mushrooms and berries in the woods of the Bramblewood.
  4. Buy them at the village stalls, or order a grocery delivery.

One warning from the GamingTrend review: delivered groceries spoil if you leave them. Unpack them and put them in the fridge soon. You can turn off a lot challenge at any time if it gets too hard.

The village is based on the English countryside. It has three neighborhoods: Finchwick, Old New Henford, and the Bramblewood. The Bramblewood is the forest, with wild animals and food to forage.

The Gnome’s Arms is the village pub. At the Finchwick Fair, Sims enter their best cow, chicken, or oversized crop in a competition. The locals also ask for help with small jobs called errands.

The pack adds two traits, Animal Enthusiast and Lactose Intolerant. It adds one aspiration, Country Caretaker. It adds no new career.

It is worth it if you like slow, daily play at home. The animals, the garden, and the cooking give your Sims a routine. That routine works well for a family that stays in one house for many years.

It is less useful if you want careers or city life. The pack adds no career, and the world is small. Look at other packs in our list of Sims 4 expansion packs in that case.

Before you buy, read is The Sims 4 free for what the base game includes.

  • They turn on Simple Living with an empty fridge. Buy ingredients or plant a garden first, or your Sims go hungry.
  • They leave the coop open to foxes. Watch for foxes near the eggs, or skip the Wild Foxes challenge.
  • They forget to buy a home for the animals. Chickens need a coop, and cows and llamas need an animal shed.
  • They leave groceries outside. Delivered food spoils, so store it soon.

Cooking and gardening skills help a lot in this pack. Our Sims 4 skills guide shows how to level them up. If you want to skip the grind, see Sims 4 cheats.
