The Sims 2 cheats

Load a lot and press Ctrl + Shift + C. A box opens at the top of the screen. Type a code, such as motherlode, and press Enter. The codes work in the Legacy Collection and in the Ultimate Collection on PC.

Press Esc or type exit to close the console. Type expand to make the console bigger. Type help to see a list of codes, but the list is not complete.

For the main codes, probably not. Siliconera says that in the Legacy Collection you do not need a code to turn cheats on. Sims Community says to type boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true first. If a code fails, type it and try again.

The code turns on debug mode. With it on, you can drag the skill, personality, and need bars of a Sim. You can also spawn debug objects, such as the Tombstone of Life and Death. The Sims Wiki warns that careless use of these objects can damage a save.

In Create a Sim, debug mode has a separate switch. Press Shift + N to turn it on and Shift + M to turn it off.

These codes are on the Sims Wiki and on Destructoid. Some need a pack, which we name.

• boolProp snapObjectsToGrid false: places objects off the grid. Turn it back on to place doors and windows.
• boolProp allow45DegreeAngleOfRotation true: lets you turn objects 45 degrees with the < and > keys.
• boolProp constrainFloorElevation false: lets you change the ground height under walls and floors.
• intProp maxNumOfVisitingSims [number]: changes how many visitors a lot can have. More Sims make the game slower.
• aspirationLevel [0-5]: sets the aspiration bar. 0 is failure and 5 is platinum.
• aspirationPoints [number]: gives points for aspiration rewards. Needs Nightlife or later.
• unlockCareerRewards: unlocks the career rewards of the selected Sim. Needs Nightlife or later.
• ageSimsCheat on: adds an option to set the age of a Sim. Needs Nightlife or later.
• forceTwins: makes a pregnancy into twins. Select the pregnant Sim first. Needs Open for Business or later.
• setHour [0-23]: sets the clock. Needs Open for Business or later.

The Legacy Collection and the Ultimate Collection include all eight expansion packs. So every code in this post works in both.

The Legacy Collection came out on January 31, 2025, for Windows. It costs $29.99 on the EA app, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. It has the base game and almost all packs, from University to Mansion and Garden Stuff. VGC reports that IKEA Home Stuff is not in it.

The Ultimate Collection is older. EA gave it away for free on Origin in July 2014, when it ended support for the game. That offer is over. It had the base game and the expansion packs.

The cheat codes are the same in both. They use the same key, Ctrl + Shift + C. Siliconera calls the Legacy Collection a re-release, not a remake, so the old guides still apply.

• You deleted something with moveObjects on. This cheat lets you delete the mailbox and the trash can. The Sims Wiki says that you cannot get them back. Save first.
• maxMotives does nothing. You need Nightlife or a later pack. It also does not fill the needs of Servos or PlantSims.
• familyFunds changes the wrong family. If two households share a last name, it changes the newest one.
• You typed the brackets. Replace [number] with a number, and leave out the brackets.
• The lot will not load. The Sims Wiki warns that snapObjectsToGrid false can break a lot when objects clash. Keep a backup save.

Some guides write the age code as aging -off. The Sims Wiki and Siliconera use aging off.
