What gives the Smelly Pet moodlet and its duration

Your Sim gets the Smelly Pet moodlet from specific interactions in the Cats & Dogs pack. These interactions include Adopt, Become Companions, Brush, Call into Arms, and Cautious Introduction. Eating interactions like Eat Something and Feed by Hand, plus Feel The Love (+100 ◊), also give it.

Once your Sim gets this moodlet, the timer runs for 120 Sim minutes. That equals 2 hours of Sim time. During this time, the weight of 1 adds to your Sim's total Tense score, and the largest total weight sets their mood.

How to avoid or remove the Smelly Pet moodlet

To avoid this moodlet, skip the interactions that trigger it, such as Brush, Call into Arms, or Feed by Hand. If your Sim already has the moodlet, you can wait 2 hours in Sim time for the timer to expire.

You can also remove it right away in Live mode using the cheat console. Press Ctrl + Shift + C on PC or Cmd + Shift + C on Mac to open the box. Type testingcheats true first, then enter sims.remove_buff buff_Pets_Sim_DirtyPet to clear this version from your active Sim.
