You start at level 1 after earning your first 100 skill points. Reaching level 2 takes another 1,440 points, bringing your total to 1,540 points. This early jump is where you unlock your first set of gated interactions.
The point costs grow steeper in the middle and late levels. Level 3 asks for 2,160 points from the level before, and level 4 asks for 3,600 points. The biggest jump is to level 5, which takes 5,280 more points for a total of 12,580 points.
Fastest ways to level up Cross-stitch
Your Sim's emotion changes how fast you earn skill points. Being Very Inspired gives a 1.6 multiplier, Inspired gives 1.4, and Sad gives 1.2. Avoid practicing while Angry, Very Angry, or Enraged, because those emotions drop your multiplier to 0.8, 0.6, and 0.4.
You can stack moodlets with your emotion to multiply your skill gains even further. The Artistic Endeavors moodlet multiplies gains by 3, Creative Spark gives 2.5, and Fluttering Bliss gives 2. Several other moodlets, including Golden Chicken and Creative Boost, give a 1.5 multiplier.
