How the Medium skill grows across levels
The Medium skill starts fast and needs only 100 points to reach level 1. Moving to level 2 takes a much larger effort, asking for 1,440 additional points to reach 1,540 total points. Level 3 asks for 2,160 more points, bringing your running total to 3,700.
The largest point jumps happen at the end of the skill track. Going from level 3 to level 4 requires 3,600 new points for a total of 7,300. Reaching the maximum level of 5 takes another 5,280 points, which brings your final total to 12,580 points.
Fastest way to level the Medium skill
Your Sim's current emotion changes how fast you earn skill points. Being Focused multiplies your skill gain by 1.4, and being Very Focused raises that multiplier to 1.6. Avoid practicing while Angry or Sad, as those emotions lower your gain multiplier to 0.8, 0.6, or 0.4.
Traits and moodlets multiply together with your emotion boost for even faster progress. The Strong Mental Affinity trait gives a 1.4 multiplier, while Moderate Mental Affinity gives 1.3. You can also use the Omega Brain Boost moodlet for a 2 multiplier, or Dedication for a 1.5 multiplier.
General skill boosts give the highest multipliers when you want to finish the skill quickly. The Snaggle Flustered boost multiplies your skill point gain by 4. Parental Guidance and Skilling on Up both give a multiplier of 3.
