The Independent trait is a base game reward trait in The Sims 4. It slows down how fast your Sim loses Social need.

You buy this trait from the Rewards Store or add it with a cheat. Human Sims of any age can have it, from Newborn to Elder.

What the Independent trait changes in play

This trait gives your Sim one hidden multiplier. Your Sim's Social need drains ×0.5 as fast as usual. This effect multiplies with any other multipliers your Sim has.

The Independent trait does not add new moodlets or replace existing ones. It gives 0 career pay bonuses, and 0 interactions check for it.

Who it suits and how to get it

The trait suits Sims who spend a lot of time alone. Because it has no trait conflicts, you can pair it with any personality traits. It works for human Sims at the Newborn, Infant, Toddler, Child, Teen, Young Adult, Adult, and Elder life stages.

You get the Independent trait from the Rewards Store in the base game. No interactions in the game give this trait directly.
