A young faller training with a veteranHow to play a lumberjack in LifeSim
- Describe your lumberjack in the text box with a name, age, logging role, and backstory.
- Name a real city or timber town in the text, such as Eugene, Longview, or Rotorua, to start on that real 3D map.
- Edit your cast to add your crew boss or fellow fallers, and talk to them in person or by text.
- Set daily to-do items and plan group outings to real local spots after your shift in the woods.
How to become a lumberjack in LifeSim
LifeSim does not have a career ladder, skill bars, or a salary system. You become a lumberjack by writing the job directly into your starting character prompt. You can start as a teenage trainee choking cables or an older veteran running a feller buncher.
Your work life grows through the people you know and the goals you set. You can edit the cast to add a strict crew boss or a rival faller. Your daily chats and activities change your cash, health, and relationships.
A sample life: first week in Eugene
Caleb, 23, starts his life as a new hand faller living in Eugene, Oregon. He sets a life goal to earn the respect of his thirty-year veteran trainer, Frank. On Tuesday, Caleb writes on his to-do list to buy spiked caulk boots and file his chainsaw teeth.
During a shift in the woods, a gust of wind pinches Caleb's chainsaw bar in a massive Douglas-fir. Caleb texts Frank, and they talk through using manual felling wedges and axes to guide the tree safely away from the landing.
By Friday, Frank remembers that Caleb stayed calm under pressure. Frank invites Caleb on a group outing to a diner near the Lane Events Center to celebrate a safe week.
A day in the life of a logger
In a city like Vancouver or a timber town like Longview, your day starts early. You check your calendar and daily to-do list before talking with your crew in a group text thread. There are no mini-games for cutting trees, so you play out the work in your conversations.
In the afternoon, you use place search to find a real park, coffee shop, or gym on the 3D map. Buildings show from the outside only, and you walk the real streets to meet friends. At night, you might attend a map happening, like birthday drinks or karaoke, before reading your daily recap.
The hard parts of the job as story
Logging brings high physical danger, harsh weather, and long commutes to remote tracts called the bush. You can play out the stress of watching for widowmakers, which are loose branches hanging in the canopy. You can also talk to your partner about sore knees from walking steep terrain.
Weather shutdowns make good stories too. During the muddy spring thaw, called break-up, work halts and dirt roads turn to mud. You can message your boss about lost shifts or argue with a coworker over a snapped steel choker cable.
Prompts that work for a logging life
Put your name, age, specific logging role, and city in the character box. For example, write "Roy, 45, a veteran chainsaw faller in Vancouver, Canada, transitioning to a computerized harvester cab."
You can also include a specific local goal in the text. Try "Tess, 26, a lumberjack in Minneapolis, USA, who trains every evening to chop and logroll at the Lumberjack Bowl in Hayward." Or write "Liam, 31, an independent skidder operator near Auckland, New Zealand, racing the spring rain."

Questions
Can I drive log trucks or operate harvesters?
No. LifeSim has no vehicles to drive and no tree-cutting mini-games. If you want to drive log trucks through mud, play MudRunner. If you want to operate harvesters, play Farming Simulator 22: Platinum Expansion.
Is there a career ladder or job promotion system?
No. There is no career ladder or job performance score. You write your job in the prompt and play out your career through goals and conversations.
How do people become hand fallers in British Columbia?
In British Columbia, Canada, workers must complete a certification from the BC Forest Safety Council and WorkSafeBC. This requires classroom theory, supervised days bucking and falling trees, and a practical test.
Can I play in a small logging town?
Yes. The 3D map covers all of Earth. You can type a major city like Portland or a small town like Hayward, Wisconsin, or Duncan, British Columbia.
What gear do real loggers wear on the job?
Loggers wear strict personal protective equipment. This includes Kevlar chainsaw chaps, spiked caulk boots, hardhats, ear defenders, and mesh face shields.
