- Kindroid: one companion that you design, with long memory.
- SillyTavern: full control, on your own computer. It takes setup.

We make LifeSim, so we say so. It is not a chat app, and it is not the best pick for most roleplay. It is on this list for one need: you want your character to live somewhere, not only in a chat window.
The facts come from each app’s own site or App Store page. We checked them between October 15 and November 5, 2026. The full list of pages is at the end. We left out apps that are only for adult content.

Can you bring your roleplay character into a world?
Yes, in LifeSim. A chat app keeps your character in a chat list. LifeSim gives it a life: a home on a real street, a job, friends, and a week that goes on while you are away. The city is real, on a 3D map of Earth.
You paste a Character.AI link, or the text of a character from another app, in the LifeSim builder. The character becomes a person in your new life. You talk to them in your own words, and they remember what you said. Adult content does not come over: LifeSim is rated 13+.

LifeSim is free in any browser at play.lifesim.com and on iPhone, with no ads and nothing to buy. Skip it if you want a new scene every night or a library of fandom characters. A chat app does that better.
Is AI roleplay safe?
Check the age rule first. Most of these apps are 18+. Do not share your full name, address, or passwords with a character. A chat can feel personal, but a company stores it. Read what AI roleplay is for the kinds of roleplay and how they differ.
