How the Bored emotion affects your Sim
Bored does not escalate into higher stages. It stays at a single level called Bored, regardless of how much moodlet weight your Sim collects.
While Bored is your Sim's active mood, it applies a hidden multiplier to their learning speed. Your Sim gets a ×0.8 multiplier to skill gain for all skills. This multiplier combines with any other active skill effects.
How to get or remove Bored moodlets
Each of the 148 Bored moodlets has a weight that pulls your Sim toward the emotion. The strongest timed moodlet is Mysteriously Bored from the Vampires pack, which adds a weight of 8 for 4 hours. Snowy Escape includes Apathy, adding a weight of 4 for 12 hours, while base game includes Essence of Boredom with a weight of 2 for 12 hours.
Other packs add weight 3 moodlets, such as Tea Deprived from For Rent for 2 hours and Stale Advice from Growing Together for 1.5 hours. Because the emotion with the largest total weight becomes the active mood, you can overcome boredom by stacking stronger moodlets from other emotions. You can also wait for the Sim time duration on the timed moodlets to expire.
If you want to remove a moodlet right away, you can use a cheat in Live mode. Open the cheat console with Ctrl + Shift + C on PC or Cmd + Shift + C on Mac, and enter testingcheats true. Then you can use the sims.remove_buff cheat to clear that specific moodlet version from your active Sim.
