Scared is a negative emotion in The Sims 4. In the game, 186 different moodlets can push your Sim toward this state. If the total weight of Scared moodlets exceeds other emotions, your Sim becomes Scared.
This emotion has a higher stage called Terrified. Your Sim reaches the Terrified stage when their Scared moodlets reach a total weight of 4 or more. Both stages speed up how fast the Bladder need drops.

What Scared and Terrified do to your Sim
Each moodlet has a weight that pulls your Sim toward an emotion. When Scared has the largest total weight, it becomes your Sim's main mood. A total Scared weight of 4 or higher upgrades the emotion to Terrified.
Both Scared and Terrified apply the same hidden multiplier to your Sim. While your Sim is in either stage, their Bladder need drains 2 times as fast. Needs run from -100 when empty to 100 when full, so you must watch the bathroom meter closely.
How to get Scared or clear the moodlets
Many strong Scared moodlets come from specific packs. Life & Death adds several weight 4 moodlets and Scary Presence, which has a weight of 5 for 2 hours. Paranormal Stuff includes an untimed Scared moodlet with a weight of 100 that stays while its cause lasts.
Pets in the Cats & Dogs pack also have their own Scared moodlets with a weight of 2. Dogs can get a 30-minute Scared moodlet when they react to a ghost or fear. They also get it if you scold or yell at them.
To stop being Scared, wait for timed moodlets to expire or remove the source of untimed ones. You can also boost a different emotion so its total weight beats Scared. In Live mode, you can open the cheat console, type testingcheats true, and use the remove buff cheat.
