Fear of Death is a base game Fear trait in The Sims 4. Human Sims can develop it at the Teen, Young Adult, Adult, and Elder life stages.

This trait adds two Scared moodlets to your Sim. It does not change career pay, add hidden multipliers, or unlock social interactions.

Interactions that can give the trait: Awkwardly View, Bawl Uncontrollably, Complain about Strenuous Activity, Confusion, Cry, Curiously Indifferent, Disgusted, From eating Pufferfish, Sadistic Glee, Sniffle Cry, Stoic Face, Unimpressed by Death.

Open the cheat console with Ctrl + Shift + C and type the line. It works without testingcheats. It gives the trait to the Sim you control (how traits.equip_trait works).

Moodlets and effects from Fear of Death

A Sim with Fear of Death can receive 2 Scared moodlets. The first moodlet adds a Scared weight of 4 and has no timer, so it stays while its cause lasts. The Looming Dread moodlet adds a Scared weight of 2 and lasts 4 hours, which is 240 Sim minutes.

These weights pull your Sim toward the Scared emotion. The emotion with the largest total weight becomes your Sim's current mood. This trait does not have hidden multipliers, replace usual moodlets, or affect career pay.

Who gets Fear of Death and how

Only human Sims who are Teens, Young Adults, Adults, or Elders can have this trait. It does not conflict with other traits in the game. Zero interactions check for it.

Your Sim can get this fear from eating Pufferfish or complaining about strenuous activity. Specific interactions, such as crying, bawling uncontrollably, or showing a stoic face, also trigger it. Even Sims who show sadistic glee or appear unimpressed by death can receive this trait.

You can add or remove the trait in Live mode using the cheat console. Press Ctrl + Shift + C on PC or Cmd + Shift + C on Mac to open the box. Type traits.equip_trait trait_Fear_Death to add it, or traits.remove_trait trait_Fear_Death to remove it.
