How do you become an astronaut in BitLife?
BitLife has a real astronaut job. It is a special career, and it needs a paid pack. The path has five steps, and you must do them in this order.
- Get the Astronaut Job Pack, or Boss Mode, which includes it.
- Finish high school and get a STEM degree at university.
- Take 40 hours of flight school and pass the pilot’s license test.
- Go to the Space Academy for two years and graduate.
- Apply to the space agency of your country and start as a Cadet.
We checked seven guides on October 23, 2026. They agree on these steps. They disagree on some costs and on which rank opens which mission. We say so where it matters.
New to the game? Read what BitLife is first. The astronaut path uses the same menus as other careers.
Where is the astronaut job in the menus?
Open the Occupation tab. Then select Special Careers, then Astronaut. The Space Academy is in this menu. Screen Rant and The Nerd Stash give this same path.
Do you have to pay to be an astronaut in BitLife?
Yes. Without the Astronaut Job Pack, you cannot become an astronaut. Touch, Tap, Play says this plainly. No free path to the job exists in the guides we read.
How much is the Astronaut Job Pack?
Touch, Tap, Play lists 4.99 USD. Game Rant says “somewhere around $4.99.” Other guides give a higher price, and prices can change by country. Check the price in the shop in the game before you buy.
To buy it, tap the shop button on the main menu. Then look under Job Packs.
Do you get the astronaut job with Boss Mode?
Yes. Screen Rant and Game Rant both say that Boss Mode includes the Astronaut pack. If you already own Boss Mode, you do not pay again. For the other paid items, read what is free in BitLife.
What if you do not want to pay?
Then there is no astronaut job for you. You can still get a STEM degree and a pilot’s license without the pack. These open normal jobs, but not space missions. Another strong free goal with a degree is to become a doctor in BitLife.
What degree do you need to be an astronaut in BitLife?
You need a STEM degree. STEM means science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. Level Winner says that English and business degrees do not qualify.
Touch, Tap, Play lists these majors: chemistry, computer science, physics, mathematics, information systems, and engineering. Screen Rant and Game Rant call engineering or mathematics the safest choice.
Do your grades and Smarts matter?
Yes. Every guide says to keep your grades high. Screen Rant says that your Smarts must match the difficulty of the degree. As a child, read books, go to the library, and study to raise Smarts.
Can you go to the Space Academy right after high school?
No. Level Winner says that you cannot enter the Space Academy from high school. Finish university first.
Which country should you start in?
Touch, Tap, Play says to start in a country with a space program. It lists the US, Russia, Japan, Canada, the UK, Germany, and Australia. Level Winner names NASA, ESA, and Roscosmos. In Russia, the job title is cosmonaut.
Does Space Camp help?
The guides disagree. Touch, Tap, Play says to go to space camp if the game offers it. Xboxplay.games lists Space Camp at age 8 as a step. Level Winner says that it costs about $3,000 and gives no advantage.
How do you get a pilot’s license in BitLife?
Open Activities, then Licenses, then Flight School. Take 40 hours of lessons. Then take the pilot’s license test and answer the question correctly.
All guides agree on the 40 hours. They do not agree on the cost. The Nerd Stash gives $165 per hour and $1,000 for the test. Level Winner gives about $70 per hour. Screen Rant and Game Rant say “a few thousand dollars.”
If you do not have the money, get a job for one or two years first. Game Rant also suggests part-time jobs and freelance work. The license comes before the Space Academy. Touch, Tap, Play says that the license opens the option to apply.
How do you pass the Space Academy in BitLife?
Train in all three areas until your performance is high. The Space Academy lasts two years. It has fitness, flight, and technical training.
How much does the Space Academy cost?
Level Winner says about $13,000 to $16,000 per year. You can pay with a scholarship, your parents, cash, or a student loan. Good grades and a clean record make a scholarship easier to get.
What does each training do?
- Fitness training: trains cardio, strength, and endurance. Level Winner says that injuries are not a random risk here.
- Flight training: a short game. Tap to fly past objects for about 15 to 20 seconds. If you hit an object, your performance goes down.
- Technical training: a science or space question. If you do not know the answer, exit before you accept the result. Then you get a new question.
What are the technical training answers?
The Nerd Stash lists the answers. Here are some examples from its list.
- First person on the Moon: Neil Armstrong.
- The gas that fuels stars: hydrogen.
- The machine that simulates gravity: centrifuge.
- Purpose of the nose cone: reduce air resistance.
- Time from Earth to the Moon: three days.
What performance do you need to graduate?
Level Winner says to raise performance from about 30 to 40% to at least 75%. Train each area at least once or twice per year. Do not age up while your bar is low. Touch, Tap, Play says that you can flunk out if you age up too early.
What happens after you join the space agency in BitLife?
You start as a Cadet. Then you earn reputation and get promotions. Level Winner lists the ranks as Cadet, Captain, Major, and General.
How do you apply to NASA in BitLife?
After you graduate, apply to the space agency of your country. The agency asks a science question. Answer it correctly. Touch, Tap, Play says that NASA can ask about real astronauts.
The guides disagree on timing. Game Rant says you can join at once or wait. Level Winner says that you must wait two years after the Space Academy.
When you get the offer, accept as a Cadet. Level Winner says that a request for a higher clearance can put your career at risk.
Which missions can you do?
- Orbital missions: a research experiment or a spacewalk. These are open at once.
- Lunar Exploration: opens at a higher rank.
- Martian Exploration: opens at a still higher rank.
The guides disagree on the ranks. Level Winner says that Captain opens the Moon and Major opens Mars. Xboxplay.games says that Major opens the Moon. Check your job menu in the game.
You can do one mission per year. Each mission has a risk bar. Higher risk gives a higher reward and more problems. Level Winner says to write a will before a dangerous mission, and Xboxplay.games says the same.
How do you raise your reputation?
- Get at least 75% performance on a mission.
- Publish papers about rare finds from scans, probes, and artifacts.
- Decode messages from space correctly.
Level Winner says that poor reviews of a paper can lower your reputation a lot. Do not publish ordinary finds, such as rocks, soil, or solar flares.
What is the astronaut salary in BitLife?
We could not find a salary number in any guide that we opened. Level Winner says that General pays well if you keep a good reputation. It also says that your Space Academy score does not seem to change your first salary.
One large payout is possible. Level Winner describes an Armageddon game where you shoot at a meteor. The writer once got over $16 million for a win.
Is there an astronaut ribbon in BitLife?
We found no ribbon for astronauts. None of the guides that we opened name one. See the full BitLife ribbons list for the ribbons that exist.
Some search results mention achievements for space missions. We could not open a current list to check the names. Open the Achievements menu in the game to see them.
Do you want a goal with rewards? Read our BitLife challenges guide for how challenges work.
What mistakes stop you from becoming an astronaut?
Most players fail because they skip a step or choose the wrong degree. Avoid these mistakes from the guides.
- Do not choose a non-STEM major. Screen Rant names music and journalism.
- Do not apply to the Space Academy before you have a pilot’s license.
- Do not drop out. Level Winner says that you get no refund.
- Do not age up with a low performance bar. If you fail, you pay again.
- Do not decline the job offer or ask for a higher clearance.
- Do not insult or prank your colleagues. It can hurt your job status.
- Do not miss a mission. The agency removes you from the team.
- Do not stop fitness training. Your fitness goes down with age.
Some players use God Mode in BitLife to set high Smarts and health first. For other long career paths, read how to become president or how to become an actor.
Where does LifeSim fit?
LifeSim does not fit if you want a space career. We found no astronaut job, space missions, or rockets in LifeSim. For missions to the Moon and Mars, play BitLife with the pack.
LifeSim is a free game in the browser. You create a character and explore a real-world map. You meet the people around you and talk to them. The people answer with AI.
Read LifeSim vs BitLife for an honest comparison of the two games.
