How to become a pro athlete in BitLife

Raise your athleticism as a child, join a sports club at school, and practice hard every year. After you turn 18, a team may offer you a contract. If no offer comes, apply under Job, then Special Careers, then Professional Sports.

1. Start a life with high athleticism. Go to the gym and take martial arts classes each year.
2. In middle school, join the club for the sport that you want to play as a pro.
3. Choose the option to work harder in the club each year. Keep your grades up so the club keeps you.
4. Join the same club in high school and keep the routine.
5. At 18, accept a team offer. For American football, go to university first.

The Pro Sports update came to iOS on October 5, 2020, and to Android on April 30, 2021, according to the BitLife wiki. We read our sources on October 14, 2026. Game updates can change these steps.

There are seven sports. Each one has leagues in certain countries. The BitLife wiki and Touch, Tap, Play give the same list.

You do not need to be born in these countries. When a team signs you, you move to the country of its league. Your partner and children can come with you. Level Winner notes that golf, tennis, and MMA are not pro sports in BitLife.

It depends on the sport. Level Winner says that basketball and hockey teams draft top players from high school. The soccer leagues in Europe can also sign you after high school.

American football is different. Both the wiki and Level Winner say that you must play at university first. The football league drafts only from college.

You may also get an athletic scholarship at 18. It pays for university. The wiki says it does little for a pro career, so take a team offer if you get one. Level Winner adds that you cannot be drafted in the middle of university. You can drop out and ask for a tryout instead.

Your performance, athleticism, and health decide if a team drafts you, and in which round. Your position on the team is mostly random.

A team offers you a contract that runs for some years. You can accept it, ask for more money, or reject it. Level Winner says that a team can stop the talks if you push too much. Then you become a free agent, and a new team is hard to find. Its advice is to accept the first offer.

During the contract, you can ask for a trade. Another team takes over the rest of your contract if your Greatness is high enough. If no team wants you, you stay where you are.

Your athlete screen has three main stats. Greatness sums up your play. Fitness comes from training balance, cardio, flexibility, and strength. Respect drops if you are caught doping or taking a bribe.

We do not print salary numbers. Our sources do not give an official range, and pay depends on your play.

You can retire when you want, or a team can release you as you age. Level Winner wrote in 2020 that teams usually release players in their early 40s. After a release, it is very hard to sign with a new team.

A great career can end in the Hall of Fame. Level Winner reports that a player who retires by choice has a better chance than a player whose career ends because of age. Induction came 5 to 10 years after retirement in its tests.

Your Fame also drops after you stop. The wiki says that Fame falls when an athlete stops practicing.

• Practice each skill once a year under Job, then Professional Athlete, then Practice. The wiki and Level Winner both say that once a year is enough.
• Get physical therapy or surgery for an injury. Playing through pain can lower your stats.
• Ignore trash talk. The option to attack lowers Respect and can bring legal trouble.
• Think twice about doping. A failed test brings a 5 year ban. A refused test brings a 3 year ban. The wiki lists the performance enhancer as a Bitizenship feature.
• Report or decline bribes to throw a game. If you take one and get caught, you can be banned from the league.
• Expect to fail at first. Athleticism is partly luck, so some lives will not make a team.

Can women play pro sports in BitLife?

Yes. There are women's leagues for basketball and soccer, and the volleyball league is a women's league.
