BitLife dark mode

BitLife dark mode is a Bitizenship perk. How to turn it on in Settings, how to darken the game for free on iPhone or Android, and fixes.

Yes. BitLife has a Dark Mode, but it is a Bitizenship perk. The official BitLife Help Center lists "change your game to Dark Mode" among the things that Bitizenship gives you. Free players do not get the in-game switch.

To turn it on, open the main menu, then Settings, and tick Dark Mode. If you do not have Bitizenship, your phone has a system setting that can darken the game. Both ways are below.

WayWho can use itWhere
BitLife Dark ModeBitizensMain menu, Settings, Dark Mode
Smart InvertAny iPhone userSettings, Accessibility, Display & Text Size
Color inversionAny Android userSettings, Accessibility, Color and motion
  1. Open BitLife.
  2. Tap the three lines at the top left to open the main menu.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tick the box next to Dark Mode.

The steps are the same on iPhone and Android. The Help Center says that Settings opens from the main menu. Gamezebo gave the three-lines step and the Dark Mode box when the feature came out. Menus can move in later updates. If you do not see the option, look through the full Settings list.

Dark Mode turns the white parts of the game black, and the red parts blue. Candywriter added it in version 1.20 on iPhone in July 2019, "for official Bitizens." Android got it in version 1.28 in June 2020, according to the wiki list of updates.

We found no official source that says it does. The patch notes and the Help Center only describe the switch inside the game. So turn on Dark Mode in BitLife itself if you are a Bitizen.

You can still try the phone setting. It costs nothing, and you can turn it off again.

iPhone

Apple says to open the Settings app and tap Appearance, then select Dark. On iOS 26 and earlier, the Dark Mode options are under Display & Brightness. You can also add a Dark Mode button to Control Center.

Android

Google says to open the Settings app, select Accessibility, and turn on Dark theme under "Color and motion." On Android 16 and newer, Dark theme has an expanded option. Google says it darkens most apps that have no dark theme of their own.

Use the color inversion of your phone. It works on any app, so it works on BitLife.

  • iPhone: open Settings, then Accessibility, then Display & Text Size. Turn on Smart Invert. Apple says Smart Invert reverses the colors but keeps images and media as they are. Classic Invert reverses everything.
  • Android: open Settings, then Accessibility. Under "Color and motion," select Color inversion and turn it on. Google says this changes everything on the screen, including images.

The faces and icons in BitLife can look strange with inversion. Turn it off when you leave the game, or set up an accessibility shortcut to switch it fast.

  • No Dark Mode option: check that you have Bitizenship. Read is BitLife free for what each purchase includes.
  • You bought Bitizenship but lost it: restore it. On iPhone, the Help Center says to open Settings and tap "Restore Earlier Purchase," then sign in with the Apple ID that you used to buy. On Android, sign in to the same Google account and open the game again.
  • The game looks wrong: update BitLife from the App Store or Google Play. The Help Center says new versions often fix problems.
  • Do not delete and reinstall to fix it. The Help Center warns that a reinstall can erase your saved lives.
  • Still stuck: email [email protected] or use the contact form on the Help Center.

On a computer, read BitLife on PC. A browser extension can darken pages, but it is not an official BitLife feature.
