The BitLife Business Update

What the BitLife Business update added, when it came out, the pack it needs, and how to start, run, and make money with a business, step by step.

The Business update added a Business special career to BitLife. You can start a new company or buy one, then run it as the owner. It came out in September 2022, and it needs the Business Job Pack, a paid add-on.

Gamepur reported a release date of September 12, 2022. BitLife posted on X on September 18, 2022 that Part 2 was out on iOS and Android. Part 2 added inheritance, startup investors, advice from a consultant, and the option to cook the books.

  1. Get the Business Job Pack, or Boss Mode, which includes all job packs.
  2. Save a lot of money. The cheapest startups cost a few hundred thousand dollars.
  3. Tap Job (or Occupation), then Special Careers, then Business.
  4. Choose Startup to build a new company, or Acquire to buy one.
  5. Pick a business type, launch a product, and age up to see your first annual report.

Yes. Gamepur, Gamer Digest, and Game Rant all say you need the Business Job Pack. Boss Mode also unlocks it, because Boss Mode includes every job pack. Boss Mode costs more than one pack.

We do not print a price. Prices differ by country, and they change. The App Store page lists Boss Mode among the in-app purchases. Read is BitLife free for the other purchases.

You can start a business when you have the pack and enough money. Guides do not list an age or a degree that the game needs. Some guides suggest business school or a well paid job first, so that you have the money.

OptionWhat it doesBest for
StartupYou build a new company from nothingNew players; it costs less
AcquireYou buy a company that already existsRich characters; the company can be strong or failing

Startup costs depend on the business type. Level Winner says a food truck is one of the cheapest. It says car makers, pharmaceutical companies, and chip makers cost over 100 million dollars. Pro Game Guides suggests about 60 to 80 million before you acquire a company.

When you choose a startup, check two bars first:

  • Demand: how much people want this product. High is good.
  • Competition: how many other companies sell it. Low is good.

Then you name your company and your first product. The names do not change the results.

You manage the company from the Job tab. Tap your business to see its options.

  • Production plan: set the marketing cost per unit, the price per unit, and how many units you make. The fixed cost per unit comes from your supplier.
  • Suppliers: tap a product and choose a new supplier to change cost and quality.
  • Employees: compliment, recognize, give a bonus, warn, yell at, or fire each worker. Team building raises morale for all.
  • Payroll: low pay hurts morale, and high pay hurts your profit.
  • Annual report: after each year, check revenue, net income, profit margin, and units sold.
  • Consultant: pay for advice. Each visit costs money, so do not use it every year.
  • Invest: put your own money into the company when its capital runs low.

Gamer Digest gives this simple rule for each product:

Profit = (price per unit minus fixed cost minus marketing cost) times units made.

So your price must be higher than your two costs. Units that you do not sell go to inventory, so do not make more than people will buy. Analyst forecasts tell you about how many units will sell.

When the business is strong, you have more ways to earn:

  • Launch more products, so one bad product does not sink the company.
  • Open more facilities. Level Winner calls this the biggest risk, so wait for several good years first.
  • Pay yourself a bonus in a very good year.
  • Pay for a valuation, then sell the company if it is worth much more than you paid. Taxes take part of the sale.
  • Start with a cheap startup to learn the menus.
  • Choose high demand and low competition. Level Winner suggests a demand bar that is about 80 percent full or more.
  • Do not spend all your capital on the first product launch.
  • Pay yourself a small salary at first.
  • Follow the analyst forecasts when you set production.
  • If analysts say tastes are changing, think about retiring that product.
  • Do not cook the books. Level Winner says that if you are caught, you go to prison and must step down and sell the company.
  • If the money runs out, bankruptcy closes the business and gives some money back.

Menus and costs can change with game updates, so check the game if a step looks different.
